New River Cafe and Bakery
420 SE 6th Ave, Fort Lauderdale, FL
Crema's Take
“Nestled along the waterfront where you can spot the water taxi, New River Cafe and Bakery offers a genuinely welcoming spot to linger over excellent iced coffee and warm-from-the-oven cinnamon buns and muffins at prices that feel refreshingly fair. Beyond the daily cafe routine, they've carved out a special niche hosting intimate experiences like their Bubbles and Buttercream classes, making it as much about connection and celebration as it is about the coffee itself. The spacious indoor seating and shaded outdoor tables create the kind of unhurried atmosphere where families, friends, and remote workers alike seem to settle in and actually stay awhile.”

This cafe describes itself as an “artisan cafe”; it is not. It is not “all hand made from scratch”; I was surprised to commerical packages of chips, granola bar and the like. Cookies in packages that looked days old and cases that were frankly just not clean. The staff was more basic than artisan, offering no engagement.
Such a cute location where you can catch the water taxi. Inside has plenty of seating to sit. There were many items to choose from, including items from the bakery. Customer service was fine- it is kind of a grab and go. Very reasonably priced. The brown cookie butter latte was delicious. The all American breakfast bun was so fulfilling and tasty, same with the ham & bacon quiche. The pastries were my least favorite. Scone was disappointing. The texture was almost sponge like and I didn’t get any of the blueberry taste. The chocolate croissant was OK but I wouldn’t get it again.
What an incredible experience we had in our Bubbles and buttercream class! Sabrina and her team took such great care of us (we held a Meet up for it). The savory treats, desserts and bubbly were wonderful. The details including name tags for each cake since we ordered different flavors were spot on. I can’t wait to do it again!!
Iced coffee was great, & everything was VERY reasonably priced. The cinnamon bun and muffins were served warmed, which was a huge win for us. We sat comfortably outside at their tables, some were in sun, some in shade. It was a beautiful day to sit by the water, and enjoy coffee & a sweet treat with my man. Steps away from the FREE water trolley that takes you all up and down the river, 8 stops completed in roughly 20-30 minutes. PERFECTION.
Great coffee! The sandwiches were big and delicious. Very nice atmosphere! The place looks beautiful. The staff was very friendly and helpful.
