Waterbean Coffee
1111 Metropolitan Ave, Charlotte, NC
Crema's Take
“Waterbean is a beautifully lit, laid-back Charlotte spot where you'll want to linger over a thoughtfully crafted drink—just don't rush in during morning hours, as their espresso-focused approach means speed isn't the priority. The space itself is inviting and vibey with plenty of natural light, making it perfect for settling in with work or friends, and their specialty drinks like the brown sugar pistachio have earned genuine praise for both flavor and the chill atmosphere that comes with them.”

Very slow, not good if you are in morning rush. Came in 3 times, thought I'd give them one last chance earlier this week. Waiting 17 minutes for a plain black coffee is absurd. I live across the street and hope to see the day another cafe opens in the complex. (1 star for atmosphere because the workers at the counter are rude, creating an unwelcome presence)
After dropping my daughter off at Presbyterian for an appointment, I wandered over to a nearby coffee spot that was open for dine-in and seemed like a good place to hang out. Waterbean is tucked into the Metropolitan shopping center, with free 30-minute parking right out front—or you can try your luck in the parking deck if you're staying longer. Inside, the tables were spaced out nicely, and I headed to the counter to order a straightforward double espresso. They had four espresso options on the menu—not too many, but enough to make me pause. Thankfully, the young woman behind the counter was friendly and offered a solid recommendation. My coffee came out quickly and it was just right. Hot, rich, and deeply dark, with a caffeine kick that did not mess around. I lingered for a bit, made use of the free wifi, and then headed out. A satisfying stop all around.
Orders the brown sugar pistachio drink but hot and it was pretty good. Service was fast and friendly. Low key chill vibes here. Nice.
Such a vibey spot 🤩 The location is beautiful and the coffee is delicious! Just a heads-up—rather than fresh avocado, they use store-bought guacamole, which was unfortunately watery and unappetizing. I was also surprised by how unclean the bathroom was. In a place this lovely, I expected the bathroom to be just as thoughtfully maintained, but that wasn’t the case.
I found this coffee spot on a walk after leaving Target. It was close and I needed coffee. The spot is very bright and welcoming. I loved all the windows for the natural lighting. The girl who help myself and my sisters was extra sweet. We ended up getting the Espresso flight and that was my first time ever seeing that. What a great concept! My favorite was the Blossom, it was strong but very earthy. It held its own against all the others. I also got a Ice coffee with lavender syrup and a splash of oat milk which was a yummy sweet treat after the flight. My sister got a smoothie because she’s not a coffee girl and I appreciated that they had options like that for the nine coffee drinkers. We didn’t grab food because we had other plans but I will definitely visit this spot again!
