Crema's Take

VIGO is a charming neighborhood gem tucked into Lincoln Park's busy corner that surprises visitors with a bright, modern interior hiding behind its modest exterior—the kind of place where the owners' passion shines through in homemade syrups and bold-yet-smooth espresso drinks. While execution can be inconsistent (matcha preparation needs work), their espresso-forward lattes and creative signature drinks win over even self-described coffee snobs, making it worth revisiting despite occasional service hiccups. It's ideal for leisurely coffee breaks or casual meetings, where the genuine warmth of the owners partially makes up for the occasional misstep.

I went in to get a treat with my birthday reward. The employee did not know how to apply the reward and insisted I had to pay first. The only reason I went in was because the croissant was going to be free, but I guess not. Also it was one of the worst croissants I've ever had lol.

Friendly staff, but the matcha was awful. Not mixed well, very clumpy, extremely bitter. Ended up tossing out. (Photos in different lighting just to show clumpiness)

Owners were so incredibly sweet and kind, you can tell they put their heart into their food and business. The espresso in their latte’s is bold but smooth and their homemade syrups are incredible! My favorite was their prosciutto toast it paired sooo well with the smoothie. 10/10 recommend and there is plenty of space to hang out from!

From the outside this pie-shaped shop on a busy 6-way corner looks like it belongs in a suburban strip mall — not terribly inviting. But inside it’s wonderful. Bright and modern; great mix of colors, hard/soft surfaces and decor; cool use of space, lines and design; soft female singer indie folk/pop background music. Lots of really nice places to sit too: at the counter, looking out the huge windows, on couches, cute tables and chairs — there’s even a small semi-private conference room. The barista was really warm and friendly and the six specialty lattes they make all sound frickin delicious. Food looks good too but I only had coffee I settled on the Horchatta Latte which is as good as it sounds. I will most definitely be back to try the rest.

I am a coffee snob and love trying new places. This one is definitely worth coming back to. My latte was smooth and rich in flavour. It tasted so good that I am thinking of taking a break from work and coming back to get another cup. I’ve also tried the chocolate croissant and would rate it 4 out of 5. The crispy top was delicious, the chocolate inside tasted good. The only thing that I wish was different is the croissant’s texture, it was a bit more chewy and less fluffy than I’d like. The service was great and I absolutely loved the space, tall ceiling, light, and airy. The place has a small conference room for customers to use as well. Definitely coming back!
