Crema's Take
“Slipstream is a beloved DC spot that takes real pride in their filter coffee program, offering thoughtfully curated options across flavor profiles like bright, fruity, and floral so you can dial in exactly what you're craving. Beyond the excellent espresso-focused drinks and creative house specials like their intriguing Venetian, they've built a welcoming atmosphere perfect for lingering over breakfast—their pastries and sandwiches (like the carrot cake bread and bacon jam egg and cheese) are genuinely worth ordering alongside your coffee.”

We ordered a nitro cold brew and a cortado. Note that you cannot add your own milk to your drink-you gotta ask the barista. The coffee here was somewhat sour and incredibly strong/over-extracted, to the point that we both felt distinctly unwell after. If I needed a massive caffeine jolt to the dome, I would come back. TLDR- Pro: strong coffee Con: strong coffee
I stopped by this place and was really impressed. Their local coffee is a must-try—smooth and full of flavor. But honestly, their specials are where it gets interesting. I tried the Venetian, and it was surprisingly good. Definitely not your average cup of coffee! I also grabbed a Jimmy sandwich, and it didn’t disappoint. Fresh ingredients, perfectly made, and just the right size. The staff was super friendly, and the prices were pretty reasonable, too. If you’re looking for good coffee and a quick bite, this spot is definitely worth checking out.
Very popular coffee shop, but luckily, we were able to grab seats! Slipstream really shines with their filter coffee options. I loved having the choice between comfort, fruit, bright, and floral- I’ve never seen a shop have that sort of concept. The floral, whatever that bean was, was fantastic. I also tried their cappuccino, and that’s where they need some work. The milk steaming on the cappuccino was poor at best. Would return for their filter coffee options though!
Wonderful little coffee spot. Great coffees to try from and the breakfast options were very well priced and super tasty. Loved the carrot cake bread and the bacon jam egg and cheese sandwich. Leave a fat tip because this staff nails it! Will be back when I am in the city for sure. The only thing is that it's a little tight with bigger groups and not a ton of seating.
I ordered the Tahitian vanilla latte and the soup of the day which was tomato. The latte tasted like your standard latte, perfectly made. The tomato soup was hot, a little spicy, and had a rich tomato flavor. The croutons were a great added crunch on top. It came out to ~$14. The atmosphere inside is industrial yet candid with the minimal Christmas decorations and a wide variety of seating spanning two floors. It’s tucked away right on the corner so it feels like a hidden gem location. Good natural lighting. Customer service was lovely. I will definitely come back to try some other things on the menu!
