Crema's Take

Esmai's is a beloved Brookline brunch destination that's earned fierce loyalty through its creative menu and genuinely attentive service, with owner Mai clearly invested in every guest's experience. The upstairs patio is perfect for lingering over inventive specialty drinks and matcha tea while enjoying generous portions of well-executed breakfast and light fare, all at prices that feel refreshingly fair. It's the kind of place that inspires real affection—locals return again and again, especially those who loved the original spot and are delighted by what the recent rebrand has brought.

Super cute and brunch date friendly :) the staff were super duper nice and very attentive. The food was okay; might’ve been missing some salt but overall recommend and great experience

First time going here since the rebranding and I’m in love. The old spot was a favorite of mine and the changes only make me love it more. The menu is very creative and I was surprised to find it’s a perfect place for a mid Sunday snack. The hazelnut coffee was truly impressive and I am obsessed with the spam musubi (see pic). Can’t wait to go back and try some of their rice plates. Did I mention the menu has some solid gluten free options?! Yes. If nothing else, check it out to support a local restaurant that’s taking the time to actually put GF items on the menu.

The food, drinks, and service were all amazing!! Even with the owner Mai covering multiple staff that were out. My boyfriend and I split the egg rolls, I got the BBH and he got the curry chicken and we both had a crème brûlée espresso martini. Service couldn’t have been faster - we were in and out in just under 45 minutes (but in no way felt rushed), and everything was DELICIOUS! We’ll definitely be back.

We came here for breakfast after a lot of other local breakfast places had an hour wait and were very satisfied. Great food and quantity for the price. The service was quick and was not too crowded. Water was crisp and lightly chilled.

Enjoyed a lovely brunch here upstairs on the patio this past Sunday. Esmai’s is officially in my top five favorite restaurants in Boston! This place is such a hidden gem. It’s nice to see them have grown from being the little cafe on the corner to now being the expanded, fancy restaurant. Can’t wait to come back when the weather is nice and enjoy the patio again! 🥰
