Crema's Take

Hay Jay Coffee is a locally owned breakfast destination in Omaha that takes both its coffee and kitchen seriously, earning consistent praise for thoughtfully prepared food made with fresh ingredients at fair prices rather than the inflated costs typical of the area. The baristas demonstrate real skill with espresso-based drinks while the kitchen delivers homestyle breakfast fare that feels genuinely cared for, creating a spot that's equally inviting whether you're grabbing coffee through the drive-thru or settling in for a leisurely sit-down meal with friends and family. It's the kind of neighborhood gem where people plan return visits and feel grateful to have it nearby.

The food was fantastic! Service was better, and the barista fixed my Latte perfectly. I will definitely be back. It's worth the time to come.

I love HayJay and am grateful it is so close to our house so we can grab delicious coffee and breakfast whenever we want! I haven’t been disappointed with anything I have tried but my favorite thing so far is the breakfast burrito absolute perfection with crispy potatoes, eggs, veggies, salsa, and cheese. I also had the cinnamon roll a couple days ago and it was SO GOOD like one of the best I’ve ever had. My daughter raves for the pancakes as well. The coffee is always delicious too not super sweet like other coffee chains and lots of options.

Hay jays is what a breakfast spot should be, home cooked tasting food, with plenty of options. It is not over priced like most places in town and they don’t skimp on quality. The staff is very friendly as well!!

Great locally owned option. Delicious breakfast and the spot has tons of potential. Great food and well thought out menu with fresh ingredients. They are working through opening kinks but staff was friendly and attentive. Once they find their groove it’ll only get smoother and better. Chorizo Benedict was spot on. Will return and would recommend.

Mixed bag review here. Let’s start with the good. My husband LOVED his energy drink he got. He already is planning when to go back for more. My coffee drink was pretty good, I got the pumpkin sticky bun latte and all I could taste was the pumpkin flavor I was hoping the other flavors would shine through as well. The not so good. We did a mobile order for curbside, my husband went to pick it up. The parking lot was packed and there was no designated curbside spot at least that he could see. So he went inside. When he got home he realized he didn’t get his side of fries. He said the burrito he ordered was just okay but he really liked the salsa it came with. My pancakes had some sort of meat grease on them and were stained orange. It smelled and tasted like chorizo was cooked right next to it. Not the end of the world for me but id rather not taste meat on the pancakes especially since I don’t like chorizo. My 4 year old wouldn’t eat them because of the slight meat taste to them. If I were still vegan this would have been a big no no. I wasn’t a fan of the biscuits and gravy personally. The gravy had a very big piece of sausage that wasn’t broken down and the flavor was just not my favorite but nothing wrong with them in general, I’m sure many people would like them. Overall not horrible, not my favorite. I would just be cautious if you have a certain diet/ lifestyle like vegan etc. and double check your order before you leave if you do mobile ordering. Drinks seem like a safe bet.
