Sugar Pine Cakery & Cafe
2923 Lake Forest Rd, Tahoe City, CA
Crema's Take
“Tucked into Tahoe City, this cozy cakery is beloved for its standout pastries—particularly the celebrated orange morning bun and buttery croissants—paired with solid traditional coffee that keeps locals coming back for weekend breakfast runs. The spot has genuine charm as a quick grab-and-go destination or a place to linger with family, though its popularity means you might wait 15 minutes and find parking tight, especially on Saturday mornings. Come for the house-made baked goods and friendly service, and you'll understand why it's earned such devoted fans despite the small, bustling space.”
What to expect

Great hidden gem in Tahoe City. Delicious pastries, friendly service, and the orange morning bun is a favorite. Perfect spot for to-go treats.
Bought a bunch of donuts to try them out. The donuts were ok, way overloaded with sugary glaze, except for the cider donuts. They were completely raw. If you want to charge $4 per donut, you gotta do a better job.

A very popular pick for breakfast on a Saturday morning. Limited parking spaces and limited chairs on the spot. Most people stop by for a takeaway but it was quite a long wait, at least 15mins for us. So if you are in a hurry, I would recommend you reserve some buffer time…
