Cafe Zeb

2745 Bancroft Way, Berkeley, CA

★★★★4.1(34 Google reviews)

Crema's Take

This Berkeley spot specializes in Mediterranean-inspired light fare with fresh, quality ingredients and generous portions, making it a solid choice if you're pairing your coffee with a proper meal. While the traditional espresso drinks lean toward the approachable rather than the adventurous, it's an efficient grab-and-go option when you're between classes or meetings. Fair warning: consistency seems to be a challenge here, so your experience might vary depending on who's behind the counter.

The drinks are alright but there aren’t a lot of breakfast options.

The perfect Mediterranean salad with fresh, quality ingredients. Large portions so that’s a plus.

So bad. They deleted my past review about the fact that they don't measure their chai flavoring, resulting in the most awful drink and coffee. Wish the law school would put in an independent cafe with edible food/beverages.

A despicable loser of a restaurant. We tried several Michelin reviewed restaurants in Italy during our recent trip. While this restaurant had some interesting-looking offerings that one cannot find in some other places that tourists stumble into, it falls far short of fine dining in terms of the quality of the food. Our dishes came out like microwaved buffet food, and we were surprised that it was what the owners seemed to take unusual pride in. In terms of service, the hosts were simply obnoxious. When telling us about the dining options, the waiter insisted that he can answer all questions in English, and therefore the lack of a menu was not a problem. But when we subsequently asked him questions, he started pretending that he couldn't understand us. I won't go into the remaining nasty details of our encounter. Suffice it to say that you've got plenty of other excellent options in Firenze (and the rest of Italy), so the restaurant's pretension that you have to have it their "Italian" way is a sorry farce.

They don't have traditional coffees, they have coffee similar to Starbucks, if that's your cup of tea ;). Wouldn't recommend it if you want a really good coffee. There are better traditional Cafes not very far away. Nonetheless, it's not bad.
