Underground Coffee & Ales
74 Vineyard Ave, Kingston, NY
Crema's Take
“Underground Coffee & Ales pulls off the rare trick of being equally serious about both sides of its name—the coffee is genuinely well-executed, but people keep coming back for the full kitchen turning out surprisingly ambitious food like strip steak with jalapeño cream and crispy onions. It's the kind of place that gets slammed on weekends and still manages to hustle through orders with genuinely friendly staff, making it perfect whether you're grabbing a quick breakfast sandwich or settling in for a leisurely brunch with a friend. If you want a casual spot that takes both its coffee and its food seriously, this is worth the trip.”
What to expect
Classic coffee drinks done right. A slow-sit, outdoor seating spot, good for meetings. Full breakfast and light food on the menu. Family friendly. Parking available.

Super busy Memorial Day late morning but the staff handled it so well!! The food and coffee were delicious, and we loved the option to sit outside. Can’t wait to come back.
Great meal with my wife. She thoroughly enjoyed Her burger, and my strip steak with jalapeno cream paired with roasted brussel sprouts, mashed potatoes and crispy onions was outstanding. I had a tasty IPA as well.
Love this place! The competent and friendly Staff sometimes have to hustle, hustle, hustle because it can get very busy on occasion and there may be only one or two front end employees on staff trying to manage to serve the whole establishment! They are doing a great job :) …
We came here for the first time and everything was delicious. We had the Hot Honey and grilled chicken pesto sandwiches. The service was great and the food came out remarkably quick given they were a bit busy. We will definitely be back!
I've been coming here since it first opened and the 'Underground' never disappoints. Are you hungry? The food is delicious and with a menu that continues to offer scrumptious weekly specials. Hankering for a cold beer? Many choices on tap and in cans. How about a hot cup o'joe?…
