Brick & Bell Cafe - La Jolla

Crema's Take

This charming La Jolla hideaway punches way above its weight with killer iced dirty chais, buttery scones you'll crave on repeat, and breakfast wraps that justify the occasional parking hassle. The country-cozy vibe and reasonable prices make it feel like a local secret despite its stellar 4.5-star reputation, with just enough outdoor seating to make lingering over your açaí bowl feel like a special occasion. Whether you're grabbing a coffee or settling in for their beloved breakfast spread, Brick & Bell manages to be both wonderfully unpretentious and genuinely excellent.

I've driven by this place at least a dozen times and really wanted to stop by and finally got the chance today! Parking is a little tricky in La Jolla but a weekday is at least more feasible than a weekend. I arrived around 10:30 a.m. after a hike and the coffee shop was packed! Although I was able to order very quickly and get my food and coffee out fairly quickly! The service is so nice, friendly, warm and gives a really welcoming mom and pop family feel. They offer a variety of pastries and baked items as well as a full breakfast menu! I ordered a latte with oat milk and a spinach quiche and both were delicious! Definitely a really cute spot if you're in the La Jolla area.

Scones are a must have 😋 delicious egg burrito too. Love that they partnered with nearby hotel to provide free scone. Would highly recommend this place for breakfast or grabbing a sweet treat to go.

What a great little spot for breakfast/brunch. Had their breakfast wrap, and it was delicious. It had everything that you would want for breakfast in a wrap. A little under seasoned, but there's a self-serve station with condiments, salt and pepper. Outdoor seating by a not-so-busy street. Also had their maple glazed scone, it's the perfect size if you crave a little dessert after your meal, 12/10, really inexpensive as well. Definitely recommend.

Incredible and affordable breakfast spot with only limited outdoor seating. Very cute and country theme. I had a bagel sandwich which was great. They have a decent but small coffee bar for creamer, chocolate, or cinnamon. Good and fresh coffee. Scones looked incredible but u didn't buy any. Next time!!
