Hoki Poki Kona Coffee
, Honolulu, HI
Crema's Take
“This beloved Honolulu institution celebrates the distinctive character of Kona coffee with meticulous care, letting the smooth, aromatic beans shine through in every pour over and espresso-based drink. Beyond the exceptional coffee, their French-style pastries—think kouign amann and chocolate banana almond croissants—rival the best patisseries in town, making it worth arriving slightly off-peak to avoid the notorious morning rush. It's the kind of place that rewards a slower pace, where regulars have been returning for years to linger with a perfectly balanced cup and a flaky pastry.”

We stopped by The Coffee Purveyor during our time in Waikiki. It gets extremely busy early in the morning, but we went a bit later and there wasn’t much of a line, which made it an easy stop. Unfortunately, my coffee experience was disappointing. I was told they had milk available, but it turned out to be half and half. I absolutely cannot have cream, so that made my coffee experience pretty frustrating and not enjoyable. That said, the pastries were amazing. I had the banana chocolate croissant and it was so good, flaky, rich, and perfectly balanced in flavor. Definitely the highlight of the visit. If the milk options were clearer or more accurate, the experience would have been much better overall.
I have heard a lot about this place, and I would say it was all worth it. I had black sesame kouiin Aman, chocolate kouign amann and chocolate banana almond croissant. Everything was so good but my fav was black sesame one. Long wait times but good food compensates it all.
Absolutely loved my visit to Kona Coffee Purveyors. The coffee is exceptional — smooth, aromatic, and perfectly balanced. You can really taste the quality of the Kona beans in every sip. Whether it’s a simple pour-over or a latte, they execute it flawlessly. The pastries (especially the ones in collaboration with b. patisserie) are just as impressive — buttery, flaky, and beautifully crafted. It’s the perfect pairing with their coffee. The space feels bright and welcoming, and despite being in a busy area, it’s a great spot to slow down and enjoy a quality cup. Friendly staff, consistent quality, and top-tier coffee — easily a 5-star experience. Highly recommend!
The line is busy and it is definitely under rated. Listen to me, this is a place with great coffee and b patisserie pastry Honolulu location. You know how long the line to wait it is for b patisserie San Francisco? And that one is for pastry only. This one has Kona coffee come with it 😣 if you know you know, you know what I mean🤗
I’ve been visiting this place for about five years, and honestly, it’s becoming overrated. The coffee this time wasn’t as good as usual, even though the same barista has been here since at least 2021. Yes, the croissants and pastries are tasty, and the atmosphere is pleasant, but we had to stand in line for 1 hour and 45 minutes, and then wait another 20 minutes for the coffee. We paid over $60 for three coffees and three croissants — quite expensive for breakfast. If you really want to try it, come after 2 p.m. when the line is gone. The place is good, but not worth the hype.
