Rooted + Rind Cafe
14 Booth Rd, Troy, NY
Crema's Take
“Rooted + Rind Cafe is a welcoming Troy spot that doubles as both a quick coffee grab and a lingering destination, thanks to its thoughtful blend of specialty drinks and surprisingly excellent salads and plant-based options. The friendly vibe makes it equally suited for solo work sessions or casual meetups, and regulars keep returning for the consistent quality of both beverages and fresh food—though it's worth noting that experiences with delivery have been mixed. Whether you're stopping by on a bike ride for a smoothie and breakfast sandwich or settling in for lunch, this place feels like the kind of neighborhood cafe that genuinely cares about what it's serving.”

Stopped in for the Green Goddess salad today. This is my third visit here and the salads are always excellent.
This was our first time here. We found this place by Googling plant-based options nearby and stopped in on Sunday after church. I was overcharged, and the cashier appeared to know it but said nothing. When I questioned the charge, she acknowledged the overcharge without checking the system or reviewing a receipt. I was not provided a receipt; however, I received a text alert from my bank and knew the amount was too high for what I ordered. The cashier involved her supervisor, and I was refunded for an item I did not order but was charged for. During this review, the cashier went to the back and was whispering instead of directly addressing the issue she created, which was uncomfortable and unprofessional. Both the manager and I were confused about what specifically needed to be refunded. On a positive note, the open-face sandwiches were good, though a little on the pricey side. Because of how this situation was handled, we will not be returning.
I been to this location in the past and it was okay in person. But today I decided to try delivery through their website not only did the dasher not deliver one of the drinks but my partner tried the bagel and said it was burnt and tasted like paper. Also, he didn't enjoy the pumpkin spiced latte it tasted his words like garbage water. It didn't taste like pumpkin spice or coffee to him. My croissant was disappointingly small and oddly shaped in a square which is not a traditional croissant (I get some "croissants" are like this but I pictured it to be more in a crescent shape as that is what the word translates from French to English, what was served was a variation of Cubed Danish or Le Cube) and the chocolate there was hardly any in it, was very disappointed. I can't say what my drink tasted like as I never received it due to the delivery driver. Very disappointed over all in the quality of beverages and food for the prices that were paid.
Great place. Friendly staff. I got the hummus veggie wrap, carrot ginger soup and strawberry lemonade. My husband got "meat and potatoes, " sandwhich and a smoothie. Everything was really good. I will go back!
This was a cute little stop that we took on our bike ride on the Helderberg to Hudson bike trail (Albany county rail trail) they have coffee, smoothies and breakfast sandwiches along with a variety of other things on the menu. There is a really nice outdoor space for eating with ample bike racks to park your bike. While we were there, 3 or 4 other groups of bikers stopped by. Food was good...staff was very friendly and we'd definitely stop here again.
