JL Patisserie
2601 S 24th St, Phoenix, AZ
Crema's Take
“JL Patisserie is a high-end French bakery that's earned serious devotion from Phoenix coffee lovers, with reviewers raving about their meticulously crafted pastries—think chocolate pistachio croissants and buttery laminated layers that justify the $6-10 price tag. The atmosphere draws people in for leisurely mornings and meetings, though arriving early on weekends is wise given the 25-minute waits, and the overall craft and quality here genuinely feels special enough to inspire people to plan trips around it.”

Arrived at 9am on a Saturday, waited about 25min. JL offers French pastries for American tastebuds— the croissants were too buttery, the filled croissants had too much filling. Slight crunch to the outer layer, too. I was overall satisfied, but still disappointed because the patisserie owner was trained in France. 3 stars in Europe.
I stopped by JL recently prior to flying back across the country. I heard about it from Keith Lee and read great reviews. They have everything. I was tempered to try everything but I had to restrain myself. I ended up getting the chocolate chip cookie and the Turkey Cheddar Cheese and Brie sandwich. FANTASTIC. The sandwich was delicious and smooth. The cookie was top 5 best cookies I’ve had in a while. This will be the first place I go back to when I go to Phoenix. Their staff were cheerful, informative and patient. I end up eating outside since it was so beautiful.
in awe with the perfection of this bakery their craft is unmatched when it comes to the quality!!! it’s definitely a higher end bakery with the pastries averaging $6-$10 each! i love how light and not over powerfully sweet the cruffin filling is. it gave me 0 stomach ache after eating the whole thing!!! highly recommend also the savory croissant and matcha is TOP KNOTCH. 🖤
Ordered 4 pastries and 2 drinks for a total of $49. Our order consisted of: a chocolate pistachio croissant, ham & cheese croissant, cinnamon roll and the mango raspberry cake. The chocolate pistachio croissant was a bit hard (and I ate it there), my other half had the ham & cheese croissant and said it was “okay”. The cinnamon roll we haven’t gotten to yet but we did try the mango raspberry cake and I was disappointed because I was so excited to try. The flavor I loved but the cake itself was too wet for my liking. My other half did have complaints about his coffee. He said the coffee (Biscoff Cold Brew) was a bit too sweet. The barista wasn’t nice/didn’t smile but the young lady working the register was a sweetheart.
I cannot say enough great things about this artisanal French patisserie. Truly, they are one of the best, if not THE best, I’ve ever had and I am so lucky to have them only a 30-minute drive away. My husband and I come here about every other weekend for a haul of goodies to last us a few days - their weekly special cruffins and croissants are our go-to orders, as well as cinnamon rolls, pistachio EVERYTHING, sourdough, baguettes.. and their coffee, OMG. I’ve been to many coffee shops in Phoenix and JL Patisserie makes my absolute favorite iced coffee. Their barista at this location is the sweetest and I never have to wait more than a minute or two to get my drink. All their staff is so helpful and kind and professional and they (along with the amazing pastries!) make the experience worth every penny.
