Crossroads Coffee House
Plemmons Student Union, Boone, NC
Crema's Take
“Crossroads Coffee House in Boone has carved out a beloved niche as both a quick caffeine stop and a genuine community gathering spot, where creative specialty drinks earn consistent praise despite occasional execution hiccups. The vibe balances energetic study sessions with relaxed hangouts, making it the kind of place where you're equally comfortable grinding through work or lingering with friends over a thoughtfully made drink. Fair warning: the bustling counter energy and frequent lines are part of the charm here, so come ready to embrace the campus coffee shop buzz.”

Workers were nice however It was really overstimulating to have 8 million workers behind the counter talking over the girl taking my order. They also randomly turned the music up and started blasting Disney music and I had to leave because it was insufferable on top of the workers laughing at full volume. (There was like 5 other people in this shop sitting down). Overall I would come back if it weren’t for the annoying music that’s blasting and constantly being changed every 10 seconds.
I ordered a mocha and was pretty disappointed. Maybe I expected too much from a campus coffee shop but my drink was warm instead of hot and I'm pretty sure they didn't steam the milk. The flavor was okay at best, I've only had the one drink so I'll send an update if I go back.
Great tasting coffee creations! There is often a line, but the wait is worth it! The staff are usually super friendly as well :)
There's a reason everyone goes here. It's an excellent coffee shop and a great hangout. Also perfect for studying. There's enough ambiance for both. Coffee/study date? You got it. Need to relax? It's an awesome lounge (although I prefer the solarium across the hall). Getting together for a coffee meeting? Everyone at App State, and I mean everyone, will recommend Crossroads. It's also a popular area to write, read, work, and study. Things that could be improved include open hours on weekends, music variety (I get that you're going for a "coffee shop" aesthetic, but there are plenty of kinds of music that can create that. For example, the time you played the Mos Eisley Cantina Theme was a welcome surprise.), more live piano music, and even more menu items like café con leche, horchata, etc.. I'd also like it if you restocked the display cabinet for pastries more than daily since it always seems to run out by mid-afternoon, but I understand that could be a financial issue.
Hands down, the best coffee shop on campus. The service is quick and fulfilling, and the area doubles as a cool place to sit down and study, either by yourself, or with some friends!
