The Foodie Cafe
999 Marauder St, Chico, CA
Crema's Take
“Tucked away at the Chico Municipal Airport, this charming cafe punches well above its weight with creative comfort food that locals genuinely love—think Monte Cristo sandwiches made with donuts, Thai fries with the perfect sweet-heat balance, and pastrami that inspires superlatives. The owners clearly pour care into every detail, from sourcing quality ingredients to personally connecting with guests, making it feel less like a casual spot and more like eating at a friend's table who happens to be an exceptional cook. It's the kind of hidden gem where you'll want to linger over coffee and conversation, whether you're stopping by for a leisurely brunch or discovering your new favorite sandwich.”

Okay, this is one of Chico's hidden treasures, at the Chico Municipal Airport! I am not a huge French Fry guy, but the Thai Fry's were over the top good! Perfect, sweet with a little heat! Also a great atmosphere with excellent service!
I found The Foodie Cafe while looking for places in the area that have monte cristo sandwiches, my mom's favorite. We haven't found any that dip the whole sandwich, but my mom said that The Foodie Cafe's donut monte cristo was the best she's had of all of the monte cristos in Chico. She appreciated that there wasn't a weird sauce on it, like the one at Cheesecake Factory, and said that the donut gave it the same vibe as the whole thing being dipped in batter rather than just a sandwich on French toast. We both enjoyed the fresh fruit that came with our food.
We stopped by this cute brunch spot and enjoyed the best pastrami sandwich I’ve ever had. We also got the dodo bird which was good, and the fried tot rockets were pretty good as well. The cheese skirt they come on was delightful! The service was great and the atmosphere had such a cool vibe. The bloody Mary’s could use some spices and a bit more mix but overall happy with our choices.
10/10 — Absolutely incredible! You can taste the love in every bite. It’s rare to find a spot that cares this much about quality ingredients and flavor. The staff was amazing, and the owner even came by to offer us extra sauces and drinks — such a genuine experience. We’ll definitely be back. We got the tot rockets, the awesome breakfast sandwich, and the everything bagel with bacon only. SO GOOD 🙌🏼
So glad a coworker told me about this place. Definitely a foodie place! The Monte Cristo my wife had was amazing, it's made from a donut and has delicious blackberries on top! Wow. Also had the East coast with lox and dill & caper cream cheese with some tasty pickled red onions and field greens. Again Just wow!!👌 Definitely worth the stop if your a foodie or just enjoy amazing tasty food!!
