Crema's Take

Cafe Coda is an independent Chico gem that takes its brunch as seriously as its coffee, with housemade biscuits, perfectly executed Eggs Benedict, and creative dishes like airy blueberry ricotta French toast that keep regulars coming back. The space offers genuine warmth—servers who are friendly without being precious, varied seating that invites you to stay, and beautifully plated food that proves they care about every detail. Whether you're after a strong cup to fuel the morning or a leisurely brunch experience, this is the kind of neighborhood spot that makes you wonder how you ever lived without it.

My first experience at this restaurant. I had the Smokehouse B&G. Excellent! Homemade biscuits are delicious, more than just flour and milk. The sausage gravy also spot on! Potatoes were crispy and my overeasy eggs were perfect. A delicious meal! 👍👍

Great little brunch spot! All the food I have ordered has not only been delicious but is served beautifully. Servers are very friendly but not overly or fake. The variety of seating choices is a plus also because I can sit pertaining to my mood, socialization meter and temperature preference. All in all I would highly recommend 👌

My husband picked this place because he saw good coffee and great Eggs Benedict on the review mentions (I’m a sucker for good eggs benny) and these were hands down the BEST eggs Benedict I’ve ever had! I upgraded to the pork belly option and it was phenomenal. Hubby got the breakfast burrito, our kiddo got the kids pancake meal. One of the best finds we’ve made!

I wish I had known about this place sooner! We had the Blueberry Ricotta French Toast, Simpleton, and Coda Benedict. All were so good, but the star of the show was the French Toast. It was so airy, and the blueberry and ricotta meshed together perfectly. There is plenty of seating indoors and outdoors. They even have a small arcade. Lots of parking. The staff is friendly. Also, the espresso beverages are good! I definitely recommend this spot for a brunch outing!

I came for a casual breakfast. I left in a committed relationship with the Wise Guy, don’t tell my therapist. That pork belly? Tender like it listened to Sade all morning. The rice? Fluffier than my emotional support dog. I got a bite of my daughter’s boyfriend’s Chilaquiles was like a Latin soap opera in my mouth: spicy, dramatic, and oddly healing- he even ate the black beans. The bite of my daughter’s chimichurri chicken sandwich whispered sweet herby nothings with every flavor. I considered eloping with it to a quiet cabin in the Redwoods with Cafe Coda, you didn’t have to go this hard, but I’m so glad you did.
