Crema's Take

Sophia's is a bustling downtown Phoenix brunch destination that's earned serious recognition for its espresso martinis and genuinely exceptional staff who somehow maintain warmth even during the overwhelming weekend rushes. Beyond the Instagram-worthy aesthetic, this spot strikes that rare balance between quick coffee grabs and lingering brunch moments, with creative specialty drinks and pastries that justify arriving before 9am to skip the inevitable lines.

Sophia’s A Brunch Counter is such a great spot in Downtown Phoenix! The location is very central and easy to get to, which makes it perfect for meeting up with friends or grabbing brunch while exploring the area. The restaurant itself is very clean and aesthetically pleasing, with a bright and welcoming atmosphere that makes the whole experience even better. The food was amazing and came out quickly, which I really appreciated. Everything tasted fresh and well prepared. The customer service was also top tier. May helped us and she was such a sweet girl; very friendly, attentive, and made us feel welcomed from the moment we arrived. Also, everyone needs to try the French toast, it was absolutely delicious and definitely one of the highlights of the meal. Overall, Sophia’s has great food, a great atmosphere, and excellent service. I would definitely recommend stopping by if you’re in the downtown area!

Best espresso martini I have ever had! Super friendly servers while being under an enormous amount of pressure for a huge crowd with lines that I never saw die down! Met the owner and she's fantastic! Beautiful ambiance with the curtains. We tried the bread pudding which was very good! Saw the french toast tower and will get that next time! I got Golden corn waffle that had a heap of maple butter whip on top with a bit of edible gold. It was so beautiful and delicious. The baked eggs had amazing slivers of cooked lemon peel that added a unique, lemon zest flavor to the egg dish. The egg sandwich was delicious with the most amazing crisp tater tots with a special sauce over the top. We also got some danish to take home and a cold brew coffee while there. I felt the entire experience was an A+.!!!

Busy. Get here before 9am on weekend and you’ll get right in. Afterwards, expect a wait. I wasn’t a fan of the sandwich. It’s not a proper sandwich - more of the fashionable, “stuffed” sandwich. A lot of stuffed French toast being served - with not a lot of clean plates. The fried rice was delicious. I would add an extra fried egg for more of that yolk goodness. The burrito looked to be a good size. The ham and cheese croissant was awesome. Eat it while it’s warm. The coffee cake was just good. Lots of variety of options. They only have a couple baristas working one machine so coffee orders take awhile. We got our pastries before our coffee and our food order got lost in the bunch rush. The manager did check In on us and helped expedite our food order. The seating is counter service style - Order food then find a seat. People need to be more mindful of how they sit at the community high top as if they 2 people sit next to each other , they really take up 4 seats. The managers did a decent job making sure people bags weren’t taking up an extra seat for a paying customer.

This place is very aesthetic. Went during a Monday holiday and waited about 20 minutes. The employees there are so courteous and considerate. They approach you during the line and give you a menu and spiel of how it works. After you order and pay, they'll escort you to a seat. Ordered the stuffed French toast with a side of tater tots and orange juice. The food was great, my only complaint is it's overtly sweet oily that after a couple bites, it made me feel sick. But the first few bites were heavenly! Highly recommend coming with a group so you can taste different dishes.

Sophia’s Brunch Counter was fantastic from start to finish. The food was delicious, but what truly stood out was the staff. From the moment we arrived, they were welcoming, attentive, and an absolute pleasure to engage with before we sat down, while we were eating, and even after our meal. The atmosphere was energetic and inviting, and despite how busy it was, the service never missed a beat. I ordered matcha and French Toast, both were excellent, and the breakfast fried rice was also a standout. Highly recommend it. Great food, great people, and an overall wonderful experience. I will definitely be back.
