Crema's Take

Tucked into the top floor of Village Books, Next Chapter Cafe pairs thoughtfully crafted coffee and creative drinks with a genuinely cozy, bookish atmosphere that feels made for lingering. The pastoral views and comfortable seating draw regulars and students alike, though service can be slow during quieter moments—a small trade-off for the unhurried, contemplative vibe. Beyond solid espresso drinks, they're known for inventive offerings and a small but thoughtful food menu, making it easy to understand why locals keep coming back.

Beautiful view, coffee and pastry shop in top floor of Village Books. I come here often, they always have unique offering and I wish i could spend much more time browsing the bookstore. Please come check it out - its possible to miss since its kind of hidden atop the bookstore.

Yummy sandwich. Very expensive. I'm glad the sandwich came with a salad or I wouldn't really think it was worth it. Oh and the caprese sandwhich did not have tomatoes on it... misleading if you ask me. Also the staff is very nice and personal, it makes it feel like they are your friends even if you do not know them! This is an important quality in a cafe for me. I like to feel like my friend is serving me coffee. Oh speaking of the coffee it was not that great, but I can tell it was made with love.

The veggie scramble was tasty. It wasn’t busy but it took 30 mins to come out. The americano was solid. I enjoyed relaxing in their comfy chairs. They have a few GF options. Service was friendly. I’ll be coming back!

Been here too many times to not leave a review. Such a good vibe and food/drink options. Highly recommend for students as a cozy study spot.

What a wonderful addition to Village Books! Came in early morning, when they first opened. Had a fantastic coffee, prepared by the loveliest staff. They’ve done a nice revamp of the dining space, and have a broad array of delicious-looking pastries from It’s the Sweet Things bakery. Their lunch menu looks outstanding—will definitely be back to try it. A new gem in Fairhaven!
