Crema's Take

This beloved Charlottesville institution combines exceptional French-style pastries with genuinely excellent coffee, earning particular praise for standout items like their almond croissants, pretzel croissants, and house-made sourdough breads. The thoughtful, seasonal approach to both pastries and brunch items keeps locals coming back, though be prepared for weekend crowds and limited seating—arriving early is worth it for the quality you'll get.

I love this place, and I was a frequent visitor a few years ago. Coming back it is just as good, they have especially good pretzel croissants and breakfast sandwiches, but I would say sometimes their lattes aren’t my favorite (a little burnt). but the baked goods? go great.

The pastries, breads, brunch, and coffee are genuinely excellent, with thoughtful seasonal dishes and standout items like their almond croissants. However their seating situation seriously undercuts the experience. The café fills up fast, and there simply aren’t enough tables for how popular it is. Add in people camping out with laptops for hours, and it feels less like a cozy neighborhood bakery and more like a crowded remote work hub. With the place so busy, it makes sense to shift away from catering to WiFi squatters. A no‑WiFi policy would keep the vibe relaxed and welcoming instead of frustrating and chaotic. On top of that, there’s no table service, so customers have to bus their own tables, which only adds to the feeling of disorder during peak hours.

Seems local favorite because it felt like everyone was here! Visited on a Sunday around noon and the line was out the door! Definitely recommend their breads and baked goods - their baguette is SO GOOD, I understand why everyone was buying out their baguettes! And I think their giant chocolate chip cookies is one of my top favorite cookies ever! Wish I bought more of them to take home! For coffee we got their cortado and an iced latte, though I wish I had gotten their hot chocolate with housemade marshmallows since I think that's what they're known for. Their cortado was pretty good, but the iced latte was okay

Great little coffee spot with French baked goods. Lots of croissants, sticky buns. I picked up a sourdough bread to take home. It was made fresh that day and was delicious with our Italian meal that night.

here are a few areas for outdoor seating and a small area inside for seating, as such, they were full and there was an hour wait for seating. We had time so we waited and it went much faster than expected. You order at the counter and get a number for your table. It is self-seating and no reservations. There's a separate nearby station which has silverware, condiments, and self-serve water. We ordered a London Fog, Latte, Almond Croissant, Parfait, Sharondale, and "Madame" (with an egg) Croquet Monsieur.
