Crema's Take
“Nestled in Charlottesville, this warmly-run spot excels at both quick caffeine fixes and lingering afternoons, with baristas who craft exceptional mochas using coffee ice cubes and genuinely care about their community—they even invite curious kids behind the counter. The spacious, inviting interior strikes that rare balance of being equally perfect for focused laptop work, family playdates with a dedicated kids' play area, and casual meetups, while their involvement in local events like Cars and Coffee shows they're woven into the neighborhood's fabric.”

This coffee shop is awesome! Stopped in on our way back from Charlottesville to NOVA. the atmosphere warm and inviting. I got an iced mocha and it was amazing! Be sure to use the coffee ice cubes. Also got a French toast bagel - so good! Staff was super friendly. And the prices I thought were very reasonable. We will definitely go back. Definitely worth stopping for in Ruckersville
Lovely local shop. Plenty of space and amazing Mocha's. The owners are just such kind people. When my son told them he wants to work in a coffee shop some day they invited him to come in at closing one day and showed him how all the equipment works. They even let him make a Mocha for me and latte for himself. You may not see it from the road ( it is tucked into a corner of a small group of shops) but it is so worth the trip.
Awesome little coffee shop. Tables, play area and a seating area. David made the best mocha frappe and iced varamel coffee we've ever had.
This place is a great cozy spot to hang out at, get some computer work done and let the kids play! Oh, and the coffee and food is amazing. There is a play area for the kids and a couch, rocking chairs and t.v. to kick back and relax. I highly recommend, very friendly family that runs the coffee shop.
A Saturday morning allowed us to finally check out Bittersweet Java. When we arrived there was an event, Cars and Coffee, taking place out front. Great community engagement! The atmosphere inside was very inviting with multiple seating areas and a children's play and reading area. It took some time to go over the menu but we placed our order. Sadly, they did not have cold brew available. This possibility was clearly displayed on the menu board. For our beverages we tried a mocha and cappuccino with caramel. We sampled the biscuit with bacon, egg, and cheese and a croissant with sausage, egg, and cheese. After asking what a croffle was and learning that it was a croissant cooked in a waffle iron and topped with strawberries and cream we added that to our order. There was a short wait for drinks and a slightly longer wait for food which was brought out as each item was prepared. Our croffle was served on a plate with metal silverware. Nice touch! But our sandwiches were served in Styrofoam to go boxes. Due to the fact that we were eating in, serving everything on a plate would have made it slightly nicer and created less waste. All our items were delicious and the temperature was correct. Drinks were hot, the mocha was not surprisingly sweet and the caramel cappuccino was perfect! The croffle was an interesting treat and exactly as advertised. The sandwiches were both hot and cheesy. Although the biscuit was cut on the smaller side. The service was wonderful, from the woman who waited on us to the gentleman who brought us our meals. Great place for families to take a little break or to meet a friend for a light snack. We will definitely return!
