Crema's Take

This charming hybrid of bookstore and café in Charlotte has mastered the art of making everyone feel welcome, from solo laptop workers to friends gathering over customized specialty drinks that the patient baristas will tweak exactly to your liking. Beyond the reliably delicious coffees—think creative seasonal offerings and elevated classics like their iced white chocolate mocha—there's a genuine warmth baked into the place, complete with an inspiring story about founder Julia that greets you on the walls and staff like AJ who actually take time to connect with customers. It's the kind of spot where you can lose an afternoon browsing books, sipping something special, and feeling like you've discovered something genuinely special.

I wish I could give this place more stars. They deserve all the praise they get because this place has literally everything you could want in a coffeeshop. The service is always friendly and helpful, the atmosphere is great, they have books and movies/music. They also have an incredible menu, great lunch options and the best thing here is their lattes and the variety of flavors they have. They even have an incredible selection on their online secret menu. I love this place! I highly recommend it and best of all, it goes to a good cause!

Quaint little coffee and bookstore with a really great vibe. I actually came on here today just to show a friend this super cool spot and figured, why not leave a review for a place I can honestly give five stars across the board. I hope this review helps someone decide to check it out, you won’t regret it. After I showed my friend, he decided he’s going to stop by for a coffee and browse the books himself. As a bit of a book nerd with a large used-book collection that I’m always adding to, this place is especially dangerous for me in the best possible way. If you take the time to browse, you’ll almost always find something worth bringing home. The sections are clearly labeled, well organized, and easy to navigate, which makes wandering around even more enjoyable. Thanks to everyone at Julia’s Cafe & Books for creating such a welcoming space! Sincerely, Thomas Ogden

Excellent service. The employees were patient with me at the counter, as I asked about the different flavors they offered. They customized the drinks I ordered exactly as I requested. Such a cute place!

Adorable book and coffee shop in one. Coffees were delish, I had an iced white chocolate mocha and then an iced seasonal fall one, both were very good. I found a book that interests me so purchased it and sat down to enjoy my coffee with it. Only thing I would change here is would be nice if a kitchen was attached and they could serve made to order items. I went early on a Saturday in hopes of a nice breakfast sandwich to go along with my coffee, but all I saw were prepackaged items. I ended up getting a chicken salad sandwich and chips which was good, just not what I would have chosen for breakfast lol

I stumbled upon Julia’s Café and books by chance. I met AJ as she was making coffees. She took the time to speak with me & was awesome! On the wall, there’s framed inspiring story about Julia & the history of how this place got started. About the coffee: Magnolia which is locally roasted was delicious. I asked if they’re affiliated with the organization next door & she told me they get the books from the donations. Yes, they work with Habitat & all of the proceeds go back to building for habitat. This is a terrific space with lots of room to just cozy up with some delicious coffee & maybe even find a perfect book to take home. I scored “27 views of Charlotte, the Queen city in prose and poetry.” I can’t wait to read it. Check out my pics & the review of ReStore attached next door. What a great setup!
