Crema's Take

Global Cafe is a beloved downtown Lawrence breakfast and coffee destination where creative specialty drinks and inventive brunch items shine, though the cozy, popular atmosphere means service can feel uneven during busy times. The coffee flavors truly impress and prices are genuinely fair, making it worth a visit if you're willing to be patient and perhaps flag down your server when needed. It's the kind of place that locals return to regularly for its unique menu offerings and warm, sit-and-linger vibe.

Good prices, flavors, coffee, and unique brunch items! I wish they had a better system to get a large group (10) in to eat when planning to visit a day in advance, we had to wait 40 minutes past our estimated waitlist time.

We waited and waited for coffee but if you are not in a servers area they basically ignore you. Once our food server noticed our table coffee was given but it took a while. Take off the blinders and look at the whole room not just your section of the room. Up your game and give customers a reason to come back.

Wow! Another GREAT breakfast option downtown. If you like coffee drink options that don’t disappoint and outstanding breakfast options, this is one of three “go to” places my wife and I enjoy in downtown Lawrence.

Note: I want to give the service a 3.5-3.8. My first time eating brunch at this local joint. My friend & I both enjoyed our food. Service wasn't bad. Our server was very nice. But we had to flag her down to ask for coffee refills and to clear our plates. Otherwise I probably would've given 4 stars. They have a nice menu of Latin-based dishes. I got the breakfast quesadilla and a side of bacon. Both were really good. My friend got an omelet- can't remember the name of it. It looked delicious.

The food was okay, nothing special at all. I got the green Chile hamburger with chips. Barely any green Chile on it. One of our party of five got the new Mexico enchiladas and said that they were really good. The rest of our party was not amazed by anything.
