The Roost
920 Massachusetts St, Lawrence, KS
Crema's Take
“The Roost is a beloved Lawrence institution where breakfast and brunch feel like an event—their pastries are genuinely dangerous, and their eggs benedict arrives with the kind of perfection that keeps people coming back despite the Sunday crowds. What sets this place apart isn't just the insanely good food, but the genuine hospitality; servers strike that rare balance of attentive without hovering, making it the kind of place where you can linger over coffee with friends and actually feel welcomed rather than rushed. It's the rare spot that does it all well—traditional and specialty coffee drinks, a full breakfast menu, light fare, and a warm family-friendly atmosphere that Lawrence clearly adores.”

Came for breakfast on a Sunday — we got seated quickly, even though they were busy. We got waters immediately, our server was attentive but not overbearing. Food was INSANELY good and brought out really promptly, the biscuits and gravy brought me back to having my best friend cook them from scratch in her kitchen. Everything was clean, staff all seemed friendly and helpful, and prices were super fair. We live in Topeka, but we’ll definitely be back again!
Madison B was our server she was so sweet and attentive. I didn't feel like we were interrupted in our conversations when she checked in but also didn't feel like we were ignored her timing was perfect. The food was amazing. I love thier potato cakes and maple pecan bacon so much. The French toast was delicious and filling. I cant wait to come back
This is a great place for breakfast or brunch. The food is amazing, the bakery is Dangerous! Its very busy, expect a small wait but we'll worth it! Definitely going back!
This is one of the greatest restaurants in Kansas, absolutely delicious eggs benedict with the potatoes and a side of biscuits and gravy. EVERYTHING was finger licking Good and cooked to perfection. The waitress was sweet and helpful and a delight to have breakfast with. I only had to wait 5 to 10 minutes and I was eating alone and they had the perfect table for me. I did have to pay for parking.
Solid brunch place on Mass street. We arrived at about 12:30 and waited about 20 minutes. The place was packed and even though there are few servers, they were attentive and welcoming. Food was great, absolutely loved their in house salsa! Definitely will go back next time I visit Lawrence.
