Very nice casual eating, and for a good cause. I had a Philly cheesesteak, a tomato basil soup, and a slice of buttermilk pie and all three were excellent. Great service as well.
We got to experience the Big Cafe for the first time today! We came on a Saturday at around 11:30, and there were about 6 people ahead of us in line to order food at the register. The line took about 15 minutes, but once we ordered and sat down, it only took about 5 minutes or less for our food to come out! There isn't a lot of seating, so I would suggest coming during less busy hours and with a small party. Water and coffee is self-serve at a side table. Our food tasted good but there were a few minor errors. I had added avocado to my turkey sandwich and there was none, and my daughter had ordered her breakfast taco on a flour tortilla, but it came on corn. It was still delicious and generous sized portions. We enjoyed looking at their boutique connected to the cafe, and everyone working and volunteering was super friendly!
This is a great café, gift shop, and event Space. The BiG mission to empower their citizens is great. The sunflower room can be rented out/booked for your events. The café menu is simple, but a good quality - the grilled cheese was really good. There are vegetarian items on the menu, including the quiche and the grilled cheese. Overall both the café as well as the sunflower room are great places to enjoy a meal, catch up with friends or read a book with a nice cup of tea or coffee.
Very good food and friendly staff. We were told several times about the place being a nonprofit for special needs people. Very cool gift shops. A little pricey but a good cause.
We haven't been here since before COVID but here have been some great improvements! The greenhouse has been turned into another cute eating area + shop, the product selection inside the main shop is wonderful with many different options for men, women, & kids, the quaint cafe has delicious coffee options and fresh farm to table meals, and there is now a turfed outside eating area with umbrella shade in front of the main shop and another area in front of the greenhouse. Obviously I love the mission and support they have for the disABLED; the beautiful works of art for sale created by different individuals, the job opportunities provided there, as well as the programs funded and charity. It's beautiful to see adults with special needs thriving and recognized through this beautiful establishment. In the cafe we ordered food to the greenhouse since it was pretty busy and no seats in the cafe (1:45 on a Monday). The Avocado Toast #2 (with bacon and sunny-side-up egg) was delicious, and the kids quesadillas were pretty good, both with fruit on the side. Even though it was busy they got the food out to us in a decent time. The staff were all very friendly and patient (especially with my 2 & 5 year old) and seemed to enjoy being there. The service was also great and the place was clean. Lovely place, we will be returning!
