Rum Cake Lady Cuban Cafe -McCaysville
10 Blue Ridge Dr, Blue Ridge, GA
Crema's Take
“Tucked into the charming border town of McCaysville, this family-run Cuban café revolves around the warm presence of its namesake owner, the Rum Cake Lady, who treats every visitor like kin while her sister works magic in the kitchen. Beyond the legendary rum cakes that draw travelers off the scenic railway, you'll find authentic Cuban sandwiches (the midnight sandwich is a must), crispy plantains, and a menu so generous it's hard to choose, all served in a genuine, unpretentious space perfect for lingering conversations over traditional Cuban coffee.”

Stumbled into something special this weekend! We took the ride on the Blue Ridge Scenic Railway, which dropped us off right in McCaysville GA / Copperhill TN. We were on the hunt for some good food and ended up finding a real gem at Rum Cake Lady Cuban Cafe. The first thing that hit us walking in was the smell — absolutely incredible. Then Elizabeth greeted us with a big smile and made us feel welcome right away. You can tell this place has heart. The food was amazing. The Cuban nachos were recommended to us and they absolutely hit every mark. Do yourself a favor and get the green sauce — that garlic cilantro chimichurri was fantastic. The Cubans were also outstanding, packed with flavor and done right. The whole place has a great vibe too — coffee, decor, cigars, and a laid-back atmosphere that makes you want to stay awhile. There’s interior seating as well as outdoor seating, plenty of great fried food options, coffee, and more. What really stood out though was the family story behind the restaurant. It’s uplifting and full of pride in their culture. You can feel the positive energy and happiness they’ve poured into this place, and it makes the experience even better. We had a blast and will definitely be back. If you’re in the area, stop in and give this place a try — you will not be disappointed
They treat you like family. She is a very beautiful Rum Cake lady in person. We met her hermana (sister) who helps in the kitchen. A REAL family restaurant l. The menu has so many options, it was hard to decide but I had the ropia vieja what is shredded beef in a tomato sauce kind of like brisket!!! Half of our party were vegetarians and they enjoyed everything. The desserts are crazy...we had to get dessert while we were there and desserts to go because there were just too many wonderful choices. I had flan there and took home February special, red velvet rum cake!! Andrea was a wonderful server.
We love this spot. We come here when ever we have a craving for an authentic Cuban sandwich. I recommend the midnight sandwich. The sweet plantains are absolutely delicious. Of course the rum cake is amazing but they have so many other desserts as well. This time we had the dulce de Leche cheesecake. Can't forget to mention the black beans and rice. Run dont walk to rum cake lady!
Great spot for amazing tasting Cuban food! Visited the area from South Florida and was excited to stumble upon this gem. Food was excellent and staff was courteous. The Rum Cakes did not disapoint! Can't wait to return with the family 💯 🇨🇺
Nice little spot in a little no where town. Wife and I got the nachos, Cuban sandwich, and tamale. Food: Cuban was great. Didn’t care too much for the nachos, maybe because the wife didn’t get enough salsa, the chips are made from plantains I believe. Tamale was great as well. Father in law got a chicken bowl, he was raving about it. Service: Great Atmosphere: Colorful, vibrant. Price: Decent
