Crema's Take

This nostalgic Downtown Bloomington ice cream shop excels at creating a welcoming gathering space with generous seating and friendly service, though visitors should expect premium pricing for their scoops and soft serve. While some regulars lament changes in consistency over time, those catching The Chocolate Moose during its late-night hours often leave impressed by quick service and the indulgent appeal of house specialties like the Chocolate Moose Dream.

Their Instagram post makes it seem that they think they're entitled to parking spots paid for by another local business. There are many online who are upset enough to not patronize the new business even though they have yet to even open or announce themselves. Creating this conflict is in poor taste on the Moose's part... and a complete shift from the local business friendly attitude they have become known for. I will no longer buy their overpriced ice cream due to this.

The chocolate moose used to be the best place for ice cream but the service gets worse every time I go back. Earlier this week my husband and I tried to go and get some ice cream and there was a huge line forming and no staff to be seen anywhere, it aas a ghost town behind the counter. We ended up leaving and decided to not even try to go back. I get that its IU classes are out and maybe there is short staff, but someone should be at the register or there should at least be a bell to get staffs attention. Sad I didnt get to show my husband how tasty the ice cream is.

The Chocolate Moose is a Downtown ice cream shop that has a nostalgic ambiance, but its prices are quite high. The servers were friendly, and the establishment was clean and well-maintained. However, the quality of the ice cream was average. Considering that a couple of scoops of ice cream and a malt cost $45.00, I cannot recommend this establishment and will likely try other ice cream parlors in the future.

Went here for the first time on a Monday at 10pm. My first thought is that the prices are way too much for what it was. $7 or $8 for a small?! I got the chocolate moose dream, which had peanut butter, and it was good. I got it in a sundae with hot fudge and hot caramel and pecans. But the cup they used didn't allow for much of the toppings (or they put too much ice cream for the toppings). It was a Styrofoam cup, so that helps with melting. My husband got the Cinnamon ice cream in a waffle cone. The waffle cone was great, with added $ 2 cost. I think every sundae should come with a triangle of a waffle cone. They should have a menu that you can hold in your hand that lists everything, in case you can't see the other menu on the back wall. The girl working was very nice and let me try 2 different flavors. It was also kind of weird that you couldn't see the ice cream options. They were in the back around the wall. So that's why a photo with the name of the ice cream should be available in menu size paper. They had lots of options for seating, esp with large groups. The straws and napkins were right there, which was nice. They actually carry Mr.Pibb pop, which is nice to see!

Really enjoyed our ice cream from the Chocolate Moose! They have a lot of seating. Our desserts were made quick and we did not have to wait long to order or pick up our food. The soft serve was amazing and the pricing was good for our items. It is clean and the outdoor area was nice to enjoy our desserts!
