Crema's Take

Mad Goat Coffee strikes that sweet spot between serious espresso craft and Instagram-worthy aesthetics, with a vibrant, welcoming space that genuinely encourages you to linger with your laptop or a friend. The espresso-focused menu delivers reliable traditional drinks and pour overs, though pastry selection can be hit-or-miss depending on when you arrive—best to get there early. It's the kind of place where the coffee quality and atmospheric energy are both consistently strong enough to make it worth a return visit.

If you’re looking for a coffee shop that nails both the aesthetic and the craft, Mad Goat Coffee is it. The first thing you notice is how "pretty" the space is—it has a vibrant, welcoming energy that was buzzing with people when I visited. It’s one of those rare cafes where the atmosphere actually makes you want to put down your phone and stay a while. The Highlights: • The Coffee: I ordered a cortado, and it was executed perfectly. The espresso-to-milk ratio was spot on, and the texture was silky—definitely a win for anyone who appreciates a technically well-made drink. • The Vibe: Even though it was full of people, it didn't feel cramped. It felt alive. It’s a great spot for a casual date, a solo reading session, or just soaking in the local Champaign energy.

Just meh for me. Husband did love his baked good, which what was left looked good, just not much to choose from by 11 am. Coffee was ok, daughters smoothie was great she said. No seats left, very loud, and not an atmosphere that I would describe as coffee atmosphere, but that's me. My low rating was due to no parking, and just a very drab, unremarkable atmosphere. Not a place I would return to.

Stopped in for breakfast with my son. It was National Coffee Day. Sadly no specials but the coffee, drip, dark roast, was hot and delicious. Both oat milk and almond milk were available. My son ordered London Fog with oat milk. We ordered a toasted bagel with chive cream cheese and oatmeal with brown sugar, blueberries and craisins. They also have beans they will grind for you. I grabbed a bag of dark roast.

A nice place with a very tasty latte, spacious seating, and some delicious pastries. It's ideal for working or studying remotely for a while. Could have bigger pastries selection, maybe because we were there in the middle of the afternoon.

Simple but on point - nice coffee spot with all of the expected espresso beverages both hot and cold. Espresso was tasty - nice bitterness but a little watery. Very study espresso cup - I think I could have driven over this thing with my car. Also got a nitro cold brew. Good creaminess and body, decent nuttiness but an odd aftertaste I can’t place. Small selection of pastries which I didn’t try on this visit. Lots of seating but a somewhat industrial feel. A few couches up front which looked comfy. Good overall but not fantastic.
