Hidden gem of a coffee shop. Love the vibe here, fresh aromatic foods caught me from the doorway. Apparently they were testing out some off-menu samosas which were absolutely delicious. The matcha wasn’t overly sweet and the lentil soup had the right kick for chilly weather. Not only that but several patrons came through and the staff here take a genuine personal interest in their community members. It was really nice to see even if I was just passing through. Please tell them to add the samosas to the menu!

Absolutely delicious food! I had a mix of vegetarian dishes that all had fantastic flavor. I also had an iced Ethiopian tea (they make it in house!) and ohhhhh my goodness, it was so so good 10/10 recommend. It’s really great having an Ethiopian restaurant in South Philly so I don’t have to go all the way out to west Philly/ U City every single time I’m craving it. The customer service is top notch and they make you feel so welcome and are happy to answer any questions. I will absolutely be adding this into my regular restaurant rotation.

My first visit to Guzo Café was an absolute delight from start to finish. The moment I walked in, I was struck by the warm and inviting ambiance — a mix of cozy café charm and authentic Ethiopian touches. The aroma of freshly brewed coffee and spices filled the air, setting the tone for what turned out to be a wonderful dining experience. For our entrée, we ordered the Meat Combination, which came with our choice of 100% gluten-free teff injera as the base. We chose chicken as our meat option and paired it with Alicha (potatoes and carrots), Gomen (collard greens), and Misir Wot (lentils). Every bite was flavorful and perfectly seasoned — the chicken was tender and aromatic, the lentils had a rich, spiced depth, and the vegetables balanced everything beautifully. The injera was soft and slightly tangy, exactly as it should be. To top it off, we each had a cup of hot Ethiopian chai, which was perfectly spiced and soothing — the kind of drink that makes you slow down and enjoy the moment. The service was equally impressive. The staff were warm, welcoming, and eager to answer questions about the dishes. It felt like dining with friends who genuinely cared about your experience. Overall, Guzo Café is a gem — great food, authentic flavors, friendly service, and a peaceful atmosphere. Whether you’re new to Ethiopian cuisine or a longtime fan, this spot is definitely worth visiting.

Ethiopian and Eritrean food in south Philly! Found through 2good2go, so excited to try it all. Started with a classic vegan platter with delicious tangy injera and iced tea. Local art and lovely vibes available in a cute Parkside cafe!

Cute coffeeshop with reasonable prices and very tasty food. It was a pleasant surprise to discover this place and eat Ethiopian food as a light lunch. The waitress is learning which requires some patience but overall very nice space and food and coffee!
