Cafe Da Fonk!
465 2nd St, Oakland, CA
Crema's Take
“This Oakland gem serves up thoughtfully crafted breakfast and lunch in a genuinely welcoming space where the vibe, music, and kind service feel as nourishing as the food itself. What really sets it apart is their commitment to inclusive options—including halal offerings that are rare to find—paired with signature sandwiches like the Zadie's breakfast and Big Ralfie's sujuk supreme that have visitors genuinely regretting they didn't discover the place sooner. Whether you're lingering over coffee indoors or taking your meal to a nearby park, Cafe Da Fonk feels like the kind of neighborhood spot that makes you feel like you belong.”

Had a delicious sandwich there yesterday for lunch and my only regret was not going sooner. Amazing food, thoughtful service, and a unique setting make this a can't-miss experience. Welcome to Jack London Square!
Fun and exciting vibe. Kind, connected service and tasty food! Took it to the park for a wonderful picnic.
We have lived in the neighborhood for 3 years and finally stopped by for my birthday. I feel sad that I missed out on this place for 3 years! We ordered the signature breakfast sandwich and huevos ranchero-like dish. I love the creativity and spin that the owner and chef put on the dishes. The biscuits were delicious! They had 2 sweet ones and 2 savory ones. I preferred the savory ones- jalapeño cheddar and the everything biscuit. They taste a bit richer and complex, compared to ones I have tried from other places. I am pleasantly delighted that the menu is so diverse- dishes ranged from burgers to chicken curry to biscuits. I will be back to try the other dishes.
I've been visiting in the bay area for two weeks and this is definitely the best breakfast/lunch I had, hands down. We had the Zadie's breakfast sandwich, Big Ralfie's sujuk supreme breakfast, honey lavender black tea, and a chocolate chip cookie. The food was fresh and well-made, the staff was super kind, and the cafe's vibe is immaculate. This kind of local run shop is the reason I love visiting cities. It's so great to see a halal and black-woman owned place like this. I'll definitely be visiting again my next time in the area. 10/10.
This place is really cute, it got nice vibes and songs. First of its HALAL. I am super thankful for that because not many things are halal. So it’s always good to have more options. People with halal dietary restrictions definitely check this place out. The lady at the counter was very friendly and patient. I went there with my siblings, mom and husband, who took their time to decide what to order, We ordered all the food below and everything was fantastic. The rose and fruit along with some dessert baked sample they gave us were splendid! The only things my mum added to her grilled chicken plate was that the chicken felt a bit dry and not as juicy but the flavor she loved a lot, but then again my mum is a bit picky. The sample she gave us was of carrot cake, bread pudding and the ube pie/tart. All of them were really good. Our favorites were the bread pudding and ube pie, those were super super good. If you are in the area definitely stop by and try this place out.
