Ali'i Coffee - Honolulu
35 S Beretania St, Honolulu, HI
Crema's Take
“This cozy downtown spot roasts its own beans and sources from local Hawaiian farms like Maui and Kona, making every cup a genuine taste of the islands. Beyond solid espresso and pour-overs, they're known for creative signature drinks like their ube latte that actually delivers real flavor, plus excellent bagels like the melt-in-your-mouth lomi salmon—all served by genuinely friendly baristas in a simple, mural-filled space that feels both authentic and welcoming. Whether you're grabbing a quick coffee or settling in to work, the prices are refreshingly fair and the vibe strikes that perfect balance between casual neighborhood hangout and specialty coffee destination.”

We arrived on a Monday morning and it was pretty quiet. We ordered the lomi salmon bagel, oat cappuccino and iced oat latte. The bagel was tasty and the salmon melted in the mouth like butter. The amount of milk in iced latter was perfect - my wife enjoyed it a lot. The cappuccino was sharp and bright too. We ended up buying their coffee beans as well. The staff were kind and cheerful. Parking can be tricky - there is no parking lane on the street on which this is located.
Five stars… this spot has everything you need. Lots of coffee options including, double espresso, and drip with refills. Super friendly baristas, recommendations, clean space. Plenty of locals, a handy water station, clean restroom, open booth and tables, and reliable Wi-Fi so you can easily work from the café. Food options made onsite are solid too with pastries and breakfast sandwiches available.
Proper little coffee shop downtown. Of the traditional hipster variety that you’ll find in most cities. People are friendly, flat white was tasty, and the prices were great!
We stumbled upon this coffee shop while strolling around downtown. It turned out to be one of the highlights of my trip. The ube latte was nothing like I’ve ever had before - actual ube flavor, not overdone, not overly sweet. Perfectly balanced with the coffee. It was 10/10. The coconut latte was also very refreshing. We got that one iced. Between these two drinks, I can call this coffee shop my favorite on Oahu. Will definitely be back.
A simple layout inside with 5 tables & some cool murals, but it’s not big by any means. Good & cheap espresso with some local coffee from Maui, Kona, and others for sale & roasted on site! Only view is of the busy downtown street outside. It’s a downtown coffee shop that doesn’t make me feel relaxed or like staying for a long time…probably due to downtown & not the cafe so much.
