Crema's Take
“Tucked away on Morgantown's streetfront, The Joe surprises visitors with a genuinely spacious and homey interior that feels like a well-kept local secret, complete with thoughtfully prepared gluten-free options and a full breakfast menu that pairs beautifully with their solid specialty drinks. The staff here moves with real care—quick service without rushing—and the welcoming vibe makes it equally suited for lingering over a laptop or gathering with friends over avocado toast and excellent coffee.”

I have been here twice. The first was excellent and the second was not. The first I got a wonderful gluten free breakfast sandwich that was perfectly cooked and no issues with my allergy after eating. This is hard to find because most places do not know how to avoid contamination. I also got a delicious chai tea. This past Saturday I took my kids for breakfast to introduce my son to the place. He is in college at Fairmont. It was busy when we arrived so we knew we had a bit of a wait. We made our way to the counter and ordered drinks and breakfast sandwiches. Then we sat at a table and waited. Our drinks came fast. Our food was another story. I will state again they were busy and I know how that can be. I worked as a server for many years, as a younger adult. So we settled in. After 30 minutes I started to notice others that ordered after us had not only received food, but finished eating and left. After 45 minutes I inquired about our order with the cashier. She went to the kitchen and said they were working on it now and apologized for the long wait. Okay, so not long now. Wrong. at 1:10 I told the kids we are giving it five more minues and leaving. It came at 1:15. All three bacon, egg, & cheese sandwiches were cold. One was on completely wrong bread. And I got sick from mine, which I ordered gluten free and informed them it was for an allergy. Do better. Its a very nice place and I want to come back. I just think if its going to be pushing an hour and a half to make a breakfast sandwich maybe you let the customer know. And please do better not contaminating your gluten allergy customers. I cannot say for sure, but I had nothing to do for over an hour but stare directly into the kitchen, and it sure looked like the same toaster was used for all three of our sandwiches.
This place was very nice and I will definitely come back! The service was quick and amazing and the people were very friendly. The coffee was really good and the sandwich was delicious. I struggle with trying new foods, so I was nervous but I really enjoyed it! Even though I was awkward and took a while to order they were nice and didn’t give me weird looks like most places do. It cost me $18 dollars for a large iced coffee and a breakfast sandwich, but it was well worth it. I definitely recommend this place!
This place... is fantastic! When driving by, it's easy to miss on the street front. But, once you go inside, it's extremely spacious! It has a homey and friendly atmosphere, perfect for those looking for a spot to read or find comfort. But, if you want to chat, the staff and patrons are wonderful! Bee and Alannah made our drinks (iced and hot Chai tea lattes, all a little different), and they were FANTASTIC! We will be coming back again!
I’m was in Fairmont, WV for the Veggie Man Crypitd festival. I was in need of a good coffee & breakfast, The Joe was recommended to me, I never ignore a recommended restaurant or cafe. I found The Joe with ease. Street parking seemed to be the only parking option. I walked in and found a table in the back of the restaurant. That’s pretty much your seating options as well. I made my way to the counter and was able to read the menu. I found some very unique items that I simply had to try. They had a butter beer latte & a breakfast taco entree, so these were my selections. The Butter Bee r latte was outstanding, I couldn’t have had a better beverage. The Breakfast Taco’s were outta this world, 3 tacos with scrambled egg, cheese & sausage…. Served with nacho chip & cheese dipping sauce!!! I could barely finish it, but is was just amazing. The staff were super friendly and pleasant. I also must say that this place is popular, come early to secure your table. I promise you that the next time I’m down in WV and near Fairmont, in definitely stopping back here for another killer breakfast & coffee. I’m telling you, do yourself a favor & give this place a try.
This place was great! They had a lot of variety in their drink menu (no to smoothies, but yes to frappuccinos). Their food was equally great. I had the avocado toast and friend had their chicken tacos. We were both very happy. Also, their gender-neutral bathrooms were impeccably clean. They even had free lady-products in there. I highly recommend them! Open til 9pm!
