Crema's Take
“Butterworth's is a quirky British-inspired sanctuary tucked into DC, where vintage Union Jack cushions, old royal portraits, and mismatched 1920s furnishings create an unexpectedly cozy escape that feels like stumbling into a charming London parlor. Their thoughtfully crafted drinks shine alongside standout brunch bites like notably thick-cut bacon and celebrated fries, while the genuinely warm service and calm-yet-fun atmosphere make it a natural gathering spot for lingering conversations. It's the kind of place that reminds regulars of home—whether that's England or just somewhere simpler and more intentional.”

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Five-Star Dining Experience at Butterworth 🏛️ Butterworth delivered an exceptional dining experience from start to finish. Every dish was thoughtfully crafted, beautifully presented, and rich in flavor. The red snapper with shiitake mushrooms was delicate yet deeply savory, perfectly balanced and cooked to perfection. The dry-aged duck breast was outstanding—tender, flavorful, and elevated with expert technique. The crispy cauliflower with miso caramel was a true standout: perfectly crisp with a bold, unexpected sweetness that worked flawlessly. We ended with the toffee cake, which was indulgent, warm, and the ideal finish to an unforgettable meal. Impeccable food, refined atmosphere, and a menu that feels both creative and comforting. Butterworth is a must-visit in DC—I can’t wait to return. 🍽️✨
Great food, drinks, and service. Really fun atmosphere! Best fries I’ve ever had
One of my favourite places in DC - reminds me of home (england/europe). Cushions with the union jack, pictures of the Queen, 1920s british posters, melted candles, and old fashioned seats make it a wonderful mix of a stately english home, a parisian smoking club/upscale restaurant, and a pub. Always a nice atmosphere created by the people in there. It is also frequented by a lot of high profile people - always a fun place to go and meet people. OH! And amazing soundtrack. When we came here early in the day for lunch, it was more relaxed 1920s crooner-ish music, but then later in the evening they play some classic music. My dad loved it as a result!
Service here is phenomenal. Prices are great. Had their bacon and waffles. Bacon is thicker cut and yummy, the waffle was kind of dry however. Needed more butter, more syrup, and more fluffiness. Love the atmosphere! Espresso in my latte was pretty tasty.
Had a delightful meal. Greeted by a super friendly host who graciously took my wife's coat. We then dined in the little window jet out. The atmosphere was calm and fun. The quirky furniture added to it all. The meal was absolutely delicious from start to finish with excellent wait staff.
