Never Coffee
4243 SE Belmont St, Portland, OR
Crema's Take
“This intimate Portland spot has mastered the art of doing more with less—their tiny, apartment-like space feels genuinely welcoming rather than cramped, and regulars keep coming back for their thoughtfully crafted specialty drinks and impressive decaf options that break the dark roast mold. They're particularly known for creative house-made flavored drinks like the Holy Grail and for taking espresso seriously, with the signature touch of serving shots with a water sidecar to cleanse your palate between sips. It's the kind of place where you can settle in for a slow coffee ritual or catch up with a friend, just steps away from the neighborhood's food and entertainment scene.”

I’ve been looking for decaf that still tastes good and isn’t a really dark roast, and Never is my favorite so far. The flavored coffee drink I tried was also interesting.
I was immediately charmed by this place the first time I visited. I’d driven past it a bunch of times but never stopped in for whatever reason. For several months I’ve been working up the street so it’s currently on my way to work, but I exercise self-control because…. the economy (eek)! Okay here’s the thing that I really love about this coffee shop (after only a handful of sporadic visits): The people who work here are so welcoming and kind. Very specific shoutout to Blue who was so patient and sweet and helpful when I was dealing with a really dramatic mechanical issue with my car and was extremely stressed out. Money is so tight these days that lately I try to almost-exclusively support businesses operated by kind, sincere people who provide a calm, safe, friendly environment and show up with their whole human selves. TLDR (to circle back to capitalism speak): This place has done a great job of hiring. Bonus points: there are always cute dogs around. Oh, and the coffee really is great! (I’m not leaving a star rating for food because I’ve only had the coffee here.)
This place is a great little cafe! I love the specialty coffees! I had a shot of espresso, it came with a side car which was AWESOME! But the shot itself was horrible. It might've been a fluke with how it was pulled and my bad luck was I was served a bad shot. Not the best espresso but it's a great coffee shop! Definitely coming back:)
So cute & teeny it almost feels like you're visiting a friend's apartment for coffee. Despite the tiny size, it's airy, welcoming & inviting, a stones throw from Belmont Bite food pod & Movie Madness (for a 90s throwback double date). Menu is small, but all the house specials are expertly crafted & they even have espresso extract bottles that you can take home to enjoy in your own kitchen. Really friendly baristas who are happy to guide you toward the right treats & beverages. Top notch pastries & other coffee pairings. Cool art on the walls as well!
This is a great coffee shop with house made artisan flavors. I tried the Holy Grail and it was very good, but I want to try them all. I loved the shop it was fun and friendly. They didn't have any sugar free flavors but they had all the dairy alternative milks. I will be back to try new interesting flavors. I recommend.
