Crema's Take

Nestled in Capitol Hill, Ebenezer's feels like a genuine community gathering spot rather than just another coffee chain, with a notably friendly staff and a real commitment to serving locals well. Their espresso drinks are the star—particularly their iced Americanos and traditional espresso-focused offerings—paired beautifully with fresh pastries that keep regulars coming back on every DC visit. The warm, charming atmosphere makes it easy to understand why it's become a beloved alternative to corporate coffee shops in the neighborhood.

Ebenezer's Coffee is a compliment to the Capitol Hill community. And a nice alternative to Starbucks. It seems as if they are there to serve the community.... rather than have the community to serve them (another swipe at Starbucks). Ebenezer's is folksy and relatively unpretentious as it sets in the shadows of Union Station. It's inviting...in a curious way. I recommend it.

December 2025 Finally get to try this coffee house after reading The Circle Maker by Mark Batterson. Good coffee offerings and very friendly staff. Highly recommended.

I was just wandering about town venturing through North East, for once, to see what is changing. I noticed this charming coffeehouse and stopped in to check it out. Immediately you are greeted by the staff with smiles and warm welcoming. I ordered a Mocha, and browsed while its being made. They tastefully display souvenir shirts, books, and tea for add-on purchases. My eyes soon fixated on the Map wallcovering, which allows you to mentally recall the evolution of the area — nice! Around 5 minutes my Mocha was ready. I took a sip, looked at the barista, and nodded to him with a smile — he knew he nailed it.

Every time I come to Washington DC I always make sure to stop here at this coffee shop. They have amazing espresso and coffee drinks. Today I had an iced Americano and also this little pastry treat with almonds on it. That was delicious. I think this is one of the best coffee shops in the whole area.
