Market On 28th
1527 28th St, Sacramento, CA
Crema's Take
“This intimate spot on 28th packs remarkable care into a tiny footprint, where every detail matters—from their silky, non-bitter matcha lattes to thoughtfully crafted sandwiches like chicken katsu and tuna onigiri that taste like they're made with real intention. The cozy, welcoming vibe and genuinely friendly staff make it ideal for a slow sit or quick grab, though expect a 20-30 minute wait during busy times, which feels worth it given their newer creative coffee menu and the kind of place where staff actually listens to feedback and makes things right.”

Edit: after my review was posted the staff took accountability and owned up to the issue. The website is, at the time of writing, operational. Thank you for looking at the feedback provided. Review score has been amended. I love this place, genuinely fantastic food. So why the low review? Their website is completely unusable. Delivery offered? Page doesn't load. Want to pickup? Nope sorry. No menu loads in so no options for you. I adore the sandwiches on offer at this lovely restaurant but the complete lack of maintenance of their website leads me to believe they genuinely do not care.
We stopped by today and tried the tuna onigiri, chicken katsu sando, and egg sando. Everything was freshly prepared, flavorful, and thoughtfully made. You can tell a lot of care goes into every detail, even the packaging. The prices are very reasonable for the quality. We also had the chance to meet Keanu, who was friendly and great to chat with. Highly recommend stopping in to try their food and drinks. Thanks for a great experience Keanu! We’ll definitely be back.
The staff is friendly and the food is delicious. I am now addicted to the matcha latte, it's simple, smooth(no bitter taste) and very lightly sweet. They now have a new menu of coffee-based drinks. The onigiri and spam masubi were delicious 😋!
The customer service along with the food and drinks are delicious. My only complaint is the wait time which can vary from 16-30 minutes, but that is due to the lack of help the business doesn’t seem to give their 1 employee. The 1 employee has to run in and out of the building when there is a food order causing a long line and long wait times. The employees attitude is positive but the business should do better in providing help to their employee
Market on 28th is a tiny, tiny spot but it has a really great vibe. The space is super small, maybe room for four people inside, but it feels cozy and welcoming. The staff were friendly and I even saw them hand a kid a sticker, which was a sweet little gesture that stuck with me. I had the chicken katsu and a roll, and both were pretty solid. Fresh, flavorful, and clearly made with care. Definitely worth stopping by if you’re in the area and craving a quick bite. Only downside for me was the tip screen. The lowest suggested tip starts at 20% and goes up to 30%, which feels like a big ask for a mostly takeout-style spot with very limited seating. It’s easy to hit a button without noticing, so just something to be aware of. Overall, it’s a cool little local find with good food and good energy. I’d go back.
