“Nestled on Long Meadow Ranch in St. Helena, this farm-to-table destination goes beyond typical coffee shop fare, offering inventive specialty drinks alongside consistently excellent seasonal cuisine that keeps both locals and travelers coming back. The warm, unhurried atmosphere—complete with outdoor seating and attentive staff who genuinely remember regulars—makes it feel less like a café and more like a beloved community gathering place where you're equally welcome lingering over coffee or celebrating a special occasion. I have been to Farmstead in everything from my wedding dress to my pajamas (recovering from surgery). I know most of the servers by name and they treat me so well! They organized my wedding dinner during the covid pandemic, made special seating available for me when I had my hip replacement and everything in between. The food is divine as always and it is a local favorite of ours. The bartenders are fantastic and the drinks are delicious.
As locals, Farmstead is one of our favorite go to spots, especially for dinner. It’s a place we can always count on for consistently great food and solid cocktails. The dishes are fresh, flavorful, and well prepared, and the drinks are perfectly balanced a great complement to any meal. Service is always friendly and attentive, but it definitely gets busy especially on weekends and holidays. I highly recommend making a reservation to avoid a long wait. It’s a popular spot for a reason. Whether you’re sitting at the bar or at a table, the atmosphere is warm and lively. Even when it’s packed, the experience still feels enjoyable and well managed. And whatever you do, don’t skip dessert the beignets are a must and one of our absolute favorites.
Farmstead in St. Helena made for a beautiful Valentine’s Day dining experience. We made our reservation a few days prior and arrived a little early. After checking in with a friendly host, we were seated right away, which set a lovely tone for the afternoon. From start to finish, the staff was warm and welcoming. Our server in particular was wonderful—attentive without being overbearing and genuinely helpful throughout the meal. To start, we ordered a whiskey tasting flight and a glass of Cabernet Sauvignon, which paired perfectly with what was to come. For food, we went with the BBQ ribs and a burger, and both were fantastic. The ribs were true fall-off-the-bone—moist, tender, and seasoned just right. They had a slightly crunchy outer layer that added great texture, while the BBQ sauce was light yet still packed with flavor. The coleslaw on the side was crisp, refreshing, and a perfect complement. The burger was equally satisfying—the bun fluffy and soft, the patty thick, juicy, and cooked beautifully. Beyond the food, the ambiance was cozy and picturesque, ideal for a special occasion. I loved that there were areas to walk around outside, including a garden that appears to supply vegetables for the restaurant, adding to the farm-to-table charm. Overall, it was a romantic, delicious, and memorable Valentine’s Day at Farmstead—an experience we’d happily repeat.
To say this was the best meal of our trip would be an understatement. We stopped here for lunch on a rainy day and we’re so happy we did. We ordered specials - shoshito peppers and a 7oz steak - as well as a pulled pork sandwich. The pulled pork sandwich was one of the best we’ve ever had, and the steak and peppers were both cooked perfectly. Add in the setting of a beautiful refurbished barn and you’re in for a treat. Make the drive up the valley and come to Farmstead
My husband and I are total foodies and appreciate quality, flavorful dishes and this place is an easy 10/10. We’ve now dined here twice while passing through, and this time we actually made the drive just to eat here. We’ve eaten at plenty of Michelin-star restaurants, but this spot holds its own, the quality, depth of flavor, and richness are on another level. You don’t leave disappointed, you leave full, happy, and wishing you had room for more because everything is just that finger-licking good. I think my husband said, “This is so good,” at least ten times! We will definitely be regulars. We live in Sacramento but heard we need to go for tacos and fried chicken during the weekday! See you soon. Brittney and Z Jordan Steichen
