Liquid Planet Grille
100 Consumer Direct Way, Missoula, MT
Crema's Take
“Liquid Planet Grille is a beloved Missoula institution with serious staying power—locals have been fueling up here for half a century with hearty breakfast, lunch, and espresso drinks in a charmingly chaotic, no-frills diner atmosphere. While the kitchen's consistency can be hit-or-miss, the cappuccinos land well and the place captures that genuine neighborhood energy where you're rubbing elbows with regulars at the counter. It's the kind of spot where you come for the coffee and conversation as much as the food.”

This place has been here for at least 50 years, in one form or another. Always a true funky neighborhood type restaurant, primarily offering breakfast, lunch and coffee options. Sometimes it is so busy that you can't turn around. But, being directly across the street from campus you should expect that. There are a few times during the week that it is quiet and relaxing, and my favorite time to visit is on school breaks and summer weekdays. Prices are a lot higher than they used to be, but most places are. The food is good, but sometimes comes out a bit cold. The staff is always friendly, and the place seems clean, although a bit disorganized. I'll keep going back.
The food was good. It is a nice diner, with friendly staff. The locals seem to enjoy this place. But, for the love of little donkies, don't put broccoli inside of a burrito. I understand you felt that you had to add a "filler", but broccoli has no business inside of a burrito. (Or French fries.if thats what you were going for as subditute. Basicly, don't add fillers. Just make a burrito.)
I ordered two days in a row. First time was the 2 egg breakfast with bacon - which was excellent. Second time was CFS, which came with NO gravy (the hell?) and a smaller portion of eggs and potatoes. No utensils either. Always room for improvement, folks.
Vast menu. Pretty good fried chicken dishes! Tots, chips (stale and cold and oily), etc. not noteworthy. A pretty chaotic environment - stand in line, right up on tables of people eating. Counter ordering. Hard to see lunch menu - we used our phones to find the online menu.
Cappuccino was great. But Avocado toast was stale and sun flower seed was very bitter. Definitely not made to order … waffle was fresh As you see in the picture the scrambled egg didn’t look like it was made from two local eggs ($3 additional charge ) unless Montana farmers not feeding their chickens well . They need to change their frying oil since the fried chicken taste was dominated by stale oil . I was expecting better quality one … you can’t put custom tip . So you are forced to select some pre populated % lowest is 20% . I like the hard working Baristas but owner has to realize this is really stopping people from tipping .
