Aroma Bakery & Cafe
1900 Franklin St, Oakland, CA
Crema's Take
“Aroma Bakery & Cafe draws a devoted crowd with genuinely warm staff who remember regulars by name and a thoughtfully curated menu that leans into quality sandwiches and baked goods, though the kitchen's consistency can be uneven. The space itself has real charm—worth lingering in with a traditional espresso drink—but come for the personality of the place and the people behind the counter rather than expecting bakery perfection every visit.”

The older lady that makes the sandwiches is very rude. She acts like she hate’s her job! She needs to work on her customer service skills. The young lady that rings you up was very pleasant and accommodating. Sandwich’s are pretty decent but not worth the attitude. They must have sold the place. The gentleman that use to be there was always nice.
The people who work here are very friendly, respectful, and welcoming. I went here just a few times and they always remembered my name. The food is very fresh and the pricing is good, too. You can pre-order online. One of the more popular sandwich places in the area. A lot of people in the office go there for the sandwiches and large salads. Just a little seating at the counter but mainly a to go place that always looks fairly busy.
Not to put it down...but the ambience is great. Service was okay. Overall the quality of the bread was bad. The sourdough was weak and not fresh at all. Looks can be deceiving. Have you ever had food that was processed on a trayline? The sandwich had that manufactured taste. Maybe my tastebuds were off, but by a longshot I'll tell you that there are way better sandwiches nearby. Forcefed myself because it was lunchtime. First referral experience fell short on this one.
Ordered a Turkey sandwich paid extra for cranberry to be added, it wasn’t. Bagel burnt. Just because it is for delivery and someone can’t send it back and have it done correctly, means you should take more care.
Very good. I had the pastrami and melted cheese sandwhich. Both ingredients were together blasted in an oven or broiler before "assembly." Good pastrami, and the pickled jalapeños go very well with the sauce and red onions.
