Colada Shop
1900 N St NW, Washington, DC
Crema's Take
“This DC institution brings authentic Cuban flavors and hospitality to DuPont Circle, with a genuinely cute interior that feels like a welcoming escape rather than a typical coffee shop. Beyond their specialty and traditional drinks, Colada Shop shines as a full breakfast and brunch destination where slow-paced meals and fresh, craveable bowls (like their praised sweet plantains and fresh vegetable preparations) make it perfect for lingering with friends. The staff's warmth and attentiveness—when you connect with them—combined with the genuine care in their food creates the kind of place you'll want to return to again and again.”

I looooved the bowl I got and the sweet plantains!! I’ve been craving cuban food and it really hit the spot. I also love the cabbage in the bowl, it was so good. Also super cute interior
First time at this location & enjoyed my food. Will definitely be back :) hope to try their other brunch options soon
The place is very nice, the atmosphere is good, and the food is super good. Unfortunately, the lady who took my order was super hateful. It seemed like she was bothered serving me, as if I was asking for something or not, or I wasn't going to pay for my food. I wanted to try a couple more things, but her attitude made me completely lose any desire to try anything else. I thought I would feel more comfortable because she was Latina, just like me, but it was the opposite.
The service is very good — the staff taking orders are friendly, attentive, and empathetic. The atmosphere is nice, and the food looks very appealing. However, in my experience, the flavor didn’t quite live up to the expectations. As a Cuban, I went hoping to enjoy a good Cuban sandwich, but honestly, I found it overpriced for what I got: $16 for a sandwich that, in my opinion, didn’t justify the price. I’m attaching a photo so you can draw your own conclusions. Another big downside is that sitting outside is practically impossible because of a mosquito infestation — as we used to say in Cuba, “they’ll lift you off the ground.” It wasn’t a bad experience, but it’s not a place I would personally return to.
If you are in DuPont Circle, definitely stop at Colada Shop!! 🌟😋 This was our first time having Cuban food and everything was absolutely delicious! I got the Veggie Cuban sandwich and it was one of the best sandwiches I've ever had. The croquetas were also excellent. Also you have to get the yucca fries!!! 😋 They are so tasty. Seemed like an excellent place to hang out and catch up with a friend. 10/10 can't recommend it enough!
