Papagalino's Cafe

Crema's Take
“Papagalino's is a vibrant Greek neighborhood gem in Skokie where the warm, multilingual atmosphere feels as welcoming as the food—their traditional gyros and pork kebab are standouts, and the attached bakery (don't miss their pastries) makes it easy to linger over coffee or grab something for the road. With consistently friendly staff, reasonable prices if you bring cash, and a colorful space that draws both solo coffee drinkers and families gathering over meals, it's the kind of place where a quick visit often turns into a lingering one.”

First time here and great experience with food and service. will come back again. Note to self 😉 - Use cash to avoid extra credit card fee.
Comfortable, colorful & fun to be the only one language speaking people there. Food was great. Company was better! Thanks to the staff who were wonderful.
This review is based on one visit. The Greek salad was very good. But it went downhill after that. After talking in great detail to our waitress about their ‘traditional’ gyro I ordered it. It was the worst Gyro I’ve ever had, not traditional and not what the waitress assured me it would be. I also ordered a beer that she never brought me but still charged me. When I asked her to remove it from my bill she said she could not do it because a manager wasn’t there. Seriously poor service and poor food. The interior hasn’t been updated since the 1940’s and not in a good way. Tacky stuff all over. The owners haven’t invested a dime into the decor since they purchased it. They also had Fox News blasting on all the screens. Guess what, I came to enjoy a meal and not watch Fox News. They were understaffed and the service was really slow and poor.
It was raining that day, so I happened to see this restaurant. I checked out that it's Greek food, and it's worth it. I like the atmosphere, the good food, and the variety of choices from starters to entrees. Highly recommend it if you are curious about delicious cuisine.
OMG, what a neat place! I had the Pork Kebab with tzatziki and fresh cut fries. The meal couldn't have been better. Then I made the mistake of wandering into the bakery. I took home a piece of La Orange cake and a piece of Mango cake. I doubt I've had better cake in all my life. And all their pastries are made right there. I wish I'd never discovered their sweets. I'm not a sweets eater, but their cakes were heavenly. I also tasted a custard cake that was so divine. I won't be able to be in the area without stopping in again. Thanks for a most wonderful experience.
