Crema's Take

Java Hutt is a welcoming Ferndale gem that feels like stepping into a cozy indie film, complete with local art adorning the walls and a genuinely helpful staff who'll troubleshoot your WiFi without hesitation. They're serious about their espresso while also embracing creative twists—think boba-topped lattes and homemade vegan pastries—making it equally perfect for a focused work session or meeting a friend who's new to town.

My favorite local coffee spot! Always delicious drinks and food. Comfortable atmosphere, with local art on the walls.

I wanted some coffee and sweet treat.. I've drove by this place for a couple of months. Just moved here. Always down to support local businesses. And they did not disappoint. Was greeted as soon as I walked in Very friendly. I will definitely be back. Loved the coffee, cinnamon roll and muffins. Love this place.

I visited Java Hutt in Ferndale for the first time and appreciated how helpful the employee was, especially with the WiFi. I had some trouble connecting at first, but they assisted me. I ordered a milk tea and a chocolate chip cookie. I also enjoyed checking out the bulletin board, which featured upcoming events in Ferndale, Oak Park, and Berkley. I will come back to visit to read a book and play a few games.

I got a “vegan cherry pie” and it was SO good!!! It was homemade and you could definitely tell. I also ordered a half iced tea half lemonade, which was good but I wish it had a little more tea in it. When I finished that, I ordered an iced coffee with almond milk. That was the jackpot for me. Such a strong flavor but not overwhelming. I’d definitely come back here for the iced coffee and pastries!!! There are many couches to sit on (4) and lots of tables for seating. The server seemed a bit rushed but I assume she was just busy cleaning in the back. It didn’t take away or add anything to my experience.

A lovely little cafe. It's like the hallmark movie hole in the wall coffee shops. Very diverse and everyone is welcome. Good menu and they even can add boba to your coffee! Many flavors to choose from. Seating is available indoors and a small patio seating area is right in front.
