Orleans Room
302 S 36th St, Omaha, NE
Crema's Take
“Tucked inside the historic Kimpton Cottonwood Hotel, Orleans Room wraps you in old-world elegance with impeccable service and a full breakfast and afternoon tea program that feels like a special occasion every time. The kitchen shines brightest with indulgent small plates like their lobster deviled eggs and truffle fries, though the kitchen can be inconsistent with larger entrées. This is the kind of place where you linger over coffee in a beautiful dining room, whether you're squeezing in a weeknight date or making it a full brunch outing during your Omaha visit.”

This beautiful historic hotel/restaurant has been on my to-go-to list for years. My husband treated me on a weeknight so we were able to get in without a reservation. The ambience is top-notch, taking you back to early twentieth century splendor. Food choices were unique but I went with the Omaha classic Reuben. I’m a Reuben fan and wasn’t impressed by the other Omaha restaurant that claimed to have the original. The Blackstone hotel truly has the best in town or anywhere for that matter. This was one of my favorite dining experiences, and we go out a lot. I have given quite a few five-star reviews but this one is hands down in the top 1 percent. I need to go back!
I had the Ruben and truffle fries. The Ruben was awful. It tasted more like pot roast then corn beef. Super chewy, but the truffle flies were some of the best I’ve ever had. Disappointing, because the venue was awesome. The staff was phenomenal. It was also really pricey with tip it was $70 for two people. I feel like that is a lot for two Ruben, sandwiches, and fries.
Wonderful experience. I had the afternoon tea, lobster deviled eggs, & the clubber. It was all amazing! Afternoon Tea was a little lite in the savory assortment. Also, it is a preset menu. You cannot order what you like. Just an FYI. Other than that amazing experience! When you go in... ask to be seated in Lance's section! He was the server! Would go back just for him!
When in Omaha, be sure to have at least one breakfast/brunch at The Orleans Room in the Kimpton Cottonwood Hotel (and definitely stay in the hotel if you are able - it’s amazing!). The Orleans Room (actually the whole hotel) has a gorgeous old-school vibe with excellent service. The menu is unique, but with plenty of traditional favorites. Two of our faves are the shakshuka, and the Reuben Benedict. We’ve been multiple times and have probably tried the entire menu / highly recommended!
The staff were very friendly and welcoming. Prompt service. Beautiful restaurant. Ordered the lobster deviled eggs - those were alright. Specifically came to try the Reuben sandwich - delicious! Overall is was flavorful and the meat was tender. The fries with the sandwich were also good: well seasoned, crispy and still warm when served.
