Leeland House
2119 Leeland St, Houston, TX
Crema's Take
“Leeland House is a beloved neighborhood gem in Eastern Downtown Houston that serves up genuinely excellent breakfast and brunch in a refreshingly unpretentious setting—think generous portions of crispy Honey Chicken Biscuits and perfectly executed Benedicts that justify the loyal regulars who return every Sunday. The spot thrives on its laid-back, vibrant energy and back patio with good airflow, offering solid coffee and traditional drinks paired with house-made pastries at prices that feel fair for the quality. It's the kind of place where the worn-around-the-edges charm and hearty food matter infinitely more than Instagram aesthetics, making it ideal for unhurried weekend mornings or casual meetups with friends.”

Wow! That was some breakfast……I may not eat again this year! It’s a small place in a rather rundown part of Eastern Downtown Houston that’s unfortunately surrounded by construction work at the moment. But it’s a diamond 💎. Go find it. Lovely friendly staff, and delicious food - I had the Açai Bowl - wholesome and delicious and French toast with a side of bacon - indulgent but delicious! Coffee and fresh orange juice. Not cheap - $38 but excellent. Go get fed!
Something told me to run the other way, but we were so hungry we decided to stay. The restaurant looked as if it needed to close to clean up the place. Almost like there was a group of 100 and they left a big mess. The food was mediocre at best, the pancakes were extremely dry, the potatoes were burnt and everything was bland. The service was nonexistent until it was time to pay and suprise, suprise, we were told there's an auto 18% gratuity added to each check.
We've been meaning to stop by for awhile but are usually sweaty from our walks and didn't want to offend. My husband had the Benedict and confess with side salad and a sweet, peppery bacon. I had the brisket hash and it was lovely. The brisket is sourced from a bbq spot across the street, the potatoes were crispy and perfectly seasoned. Our Americanos were strong and delicious. We'll definitely be back to try other menu items.
Stellar spot for a hungover brunch. Nice back patio with airflow and food is great. Got the Honey Chicken Biscuit and it was a great size with lots of honey, chicken was crispy, and biscuit was dense and delicious. Potatoes on the side were nice.
Is it obvious that we like coming here? My boyfriend and I come here every few Sundays (free street parking) and here’s why: The food is great, the vibes are vibrant, and the price is good! I was held in a chokehold by the Leeland Benedict, but as of late have been stuck on the Brisket Hash bowl. The açaí bowl was pretty good, but not anything I plan to get again. I highly recommending getting lavender lemonade, it looks pretty and tastes delicious! I love the live dj that plays and the overall convivial space. It seems that Leeland has upped its service and is now having servers take orders, rather than customers coming up to severs to order which is nice. The only reservation I have is that Leeland has a bit of a consistency issue, as sometimes dishes will be served different (ex: we got truffle fries served plain which was great, then the next time the fries were served with aioli). Overall, love Leeland’s and highly recommending going!!
