Crema's Take

This cozy Anchorage spot is a love letter to homemade pie, where owner Steve treats every visitor like family and serves up genuinely exceptional slices—the pumpkin, key lime, and carrot cake are standouts worth the trip. It's the kind of place where you linger over coffee and dessert at a slow pace, whether you're meeting a friend or chasing a nostalgic bite of something that tastes like it came straight from your grandmother's kitchen. Steve's warmth and care shine through everything he does, from daily fresh-baked pies to catering weddings with the same heart-felt attention.

If you are looking for that pie your grandma made, and have a good nostalgic feel, then "A Pie Stop" is a great place to stop and pick up that slice of nostalgia. The key lime pie and carrot cake are very good. The flavor for each it true to expectations. The key lime pie balances the sweet-tart edge, providing a good balanced flavor. The texture is perfect. The carrot cake had a good crumb and balanced moistness; they edge had a pleasing sugar crystallization. The cake had a mild blend of warming spices; do not expect a punch with these. Finally, just enough icing. The triple berry pie was good. The pastry is a classic buttery short rough puff, and was baked perfectly. The sides are thin, so if love pie pastry you may need to steal a friend pie crust edge. The filling has a balanced flavor and carried the berry flavor. The pie was sweet drawing from the natural sweetness of the berries, so expect a traditional level of sweet and not the modern saccharine cloying version - a pie to enjoy the flavors of a good classic crust and fruits. The crumble is good. I prefer a more granola type topping with nuts; they buttery crumble top is good - just not my preferred style. The fruit was good crumble fruit in sweetness (goose level, not excessive), texture with the actual fruit flavors coming through eat mouthful.

Honestly some of the best pie I’ve ever had. The pumpkin pie (pictured) was unreal and easily my favorite, but the blueberry and key lime were just as good. You don’t need a holiday, birthday, or special occasion to come here, these are everyday pie level good. If you’re like me and you run or train a lot, this is the perfect post-workout / cheat meal. Totally worth it. Fresh, flavorful, not overly sweet, and clearly made with care. If you’re in Anchorage and even thinking about pie… don’t overthink it. Just go. These are way too good to pass up. I can’t wait to try all the other flavors !

Very lowkey place with AMAZING pies, and ive been to peggy's and all the places that make their own pies. I reccomend people trying it as their pies are served fresh warm or chilled - anyway its DELICIOUS. The applw pie i had was not overly sweet, or spived, and the apples perfectly stewed. Their pie crust? WARM AND FLAKEY! I will try their other pies as I come back. DO NOT SKIP THIS PLACE!! Update: I learned from the current owner he was from the east coast, and that the previous owners were Amish and this place can make Shoofly Pie! Pies must be ordered a week or at least 24 hours ahead of time. Their online menu is worth a look!

Steve the owner/manager is super sweet and friendly! He had a story about the pie shop and it's creation, he was not the least bit rude on any point. He is simply an old school hard working man with a delicious pie shop. The pies are good, I got a blueberry rhubarb and the crust was delicious, the filling tasty! I would go back and try more! He is a hard working man clearly i can see, has great respect for what he has built and has everything clearly marked for his tidy little pie shop. The other reviews are ridiculous and people should be ashamed!

We had Steve and his team cater the pies for our daughter’s wedding — she’s a pie lover, not a cake lover. It was Steve’s first time doing an order that large, for a wedding, and he did not disappoint. Everyone raved about the pies and, with the selection we had ordered, every person got something they liked. Not only did A Pie Stop provide amazing pies, they also allowed us to use their “Pie Display” which was, visually, a big hit with all the guests. A Pie Stop checked all of the boxes and then some — thank you for contributing to making our daughter’s special day extremely tasty!
