WoodGrain Bagels & Deli
2525 Arapahoe Ave, Boulder, CO
Crema's Take
“This Boulder institution has earned serious credibility for its Montreal-style bagels and thoughtfully crafted breakfast sandwiches that keep locals coming back for more, though the coffee program deserves equal attention with its espresso-focused offerings and pour over options that pair beautifully with their pastries. There's a genuine warmth to the place—friendly staff and quality ingredients shine through—though consistency can be a bit uneven depending on the day. Stop in for an authentic bagel experience with serious coffee chops, ideal for a quick morning grab that doesn't compromise on flavor.”

I’ve eaten more New York bagels than I can count, which means it takes a lot to impress me with a bagel anymore. That changed the first time I visited Montreal. One bite of a real Montreal bagel and my entire bagel worldview shifted. Hands down, some of the best bagels you’ll ever eat. So when I was visiting Boulder, Colorado, and saw a spot claiming they made Montreal bagels, I was skeptical—deeply skeptical. But curiosity won. And to my genuine surprise, this was no exaggeration. This is the real deal: a true Montreal bagel, somehow existing in Boulder. The bagel was phenomenal. Not oversized, not overly soft or fluffy—just right. Slightly smaller, perfectly crusted on the outside, warm and soft on the inside, exactly how a Montreal bagel should be. My only complaint is that I only got to visit once. I craved it every single morning afterward. If you’re in Boulder and looking for a standout breakfast spot, these bagels are absolutely up your alley.
I could eat the grilled chicken club sandwich for lunch every single day! In fact I have eaten it for lunch multiple days in a row and it’s always just as good!! The breakfast potatoes are excellent too. Thank you WoodGrain!!
Such good bagels!! The sausage egg and cheese breakfast sandwich on Asiago rosemary bagels were so good!! Their potatoes were also nice a flavorful. Too many places have bland breakfast potatoes nowadays. The oat milk matches were also really good! They did not skimp on the matcha! Fast and friendly service. I would definitely come here again!
Hunter and I just hopped in to grab a bite. I have been to their location in Denver. I told him it was good….well this location is off. The person who took our order was extremely friendly, which we appreciated. The red head working, mmmm, not so much. She apparently doesn’t know what excuse me means. Raising your arms and pushing through is not to same. Anyway our food. What’s up with this location? Potatoes cold. Bacon egg and cheese dry. Iced latte ok. If ordering to go, check your order and say something. (We failed to do so)
Last straw: today when I ordered delivery I discovered a mystery white substance on my food. It looked...human in origin (*shudder*). I've ordered the Earth Skillet several times with totally mixed results. Sometimes it has avocado, sometimes not. Sometimes if I request bacon in the mix it arrives, sometimes not (but I still paid for it!). Lately it's been super over seasoned with way too thick cracked pepper. Sometimes the veggies seem fresh, sometimes super old. Sometimes the bagel is toasted, sometimes hardly at all. Today the cinnamon cream cheese didn't have a lid on it, which got on the avocado. I've HAD it with this place.
