The Royal
501 Florida Ave NW, Washington, DC
Crema's Take
“This DC gem strikes that perfect balance between serious coffee craftsmanship and a full-service kitchen, where you're just as likely to linger over a beautifully layered matcha as you are a fresh arepa or perfectly flaky danish. The vibe is relaxed and social—ideal for lingering conversations or solo work sessions—with a team that genuinely cares about getting your drink right, whether that's a signature creative or a remixed order. Fair warning: the phone-ordering system takes some adjustment, and you'll want to plan ahead for parking, but the food and drinks are worth the small friction.”

If your curious about this spot be curious no longer. Come and eat! My meal was perfect! My husband also ordered a danish and that was sooooo good too. We will definitely be back!
A solid spot for a chill catch-up with friends. I tried the chicken burger and fries, and both were really good. The arepas were fresh and flavorful too, definitely worth trying. Service was good and the staff was polite and helpful. The drinks were also nice and paired well with the food. Overall, it’s a relaxed place with good vibes and tasty food. Would go back for sure.
I usually come to The Royal for the food but the other day, I just popped in for a drink and they still showed out. Sat at the bar with this pretty little layered matcha and it tasted just as good as it looked. Chill vibe, good service, easy place to lose track of time. Royal never misses, even when I’m only here for a quick sip.
Cute spot on DC, but dear lord the parking situation is awful! 8 min walk to the nearest parking garage. The staff was very kind when we arrived, but I really hate this QR code to order & pay situation. Our food was delightful and would love to come back and try the cocktails one evening.
You order entirely on your phone the wait staff only bring you the food. We first ordered drinks we did not like (salted vanilla cold brew) and the staff was very accommodating making us different drinks. Went here on a Monday for lunch was very quiet and service was fast. Portions are smaller than the usual American size. Definitely an appetizer and entree place. Overall food was delicious loved the steak meat. Great as a gluten free person.
