This is a gem in Duarte. We had just come from a hike in Monrovia and had not had breakfast. We googled 5 top breakfast restaurants in our vicinity and J&A'S popped up. It was only 9 min from our location. When we arrived and walked in we were welcomed. We were seated immediately. The vibe in this place was welcoming and the staff were friendly and very attentive. Now the food, nice hot coffee, in house made salsas, fresh eggs, good bacon and sausage. My egg was made perfectly over medium. The pancakes were so fluffy they dissolved in my mouth sausage and bacon again perfectly done. Huevos Matador is a great dish eggs with serrano Chiles comes with refried beans and cheese, potatoes and chips. Absolutely flavor and delicious. I recommend this establishment our experience was wonderful. Please come and enjoy the nostalgic decor and share your experience with all of us. Shout out to the staff, the cook and the gentleman washing the dishes in the back by hand. The servers that make you feel welcomed when you walk through the door. We are coming back!
I have recently just been coming to this little diner spot and has always been great until last weekend on Saturday the 27th, 2025. My husband and I ordered the same breakfast scrambled eggs, 2 pancakes, and bacon. The eggs honestly tasted like powdered eggs. There was no bite to the eggs at all. Just mush. The bacon was cold, dry, and absolutely overcooked ! Our breakfast was cold. I bet the bacon was pre-cooked in large amounts and just sits until ordered. I was so surprised and disappointed to say the least because these days going out is not affordable!
Wanted a quick breakfast restaurant to eat at with my brother and mother and found this little mom and pop's place. It's run down but full of soul. The food was yummy of comfy like you get for an older relative place. The service was genuine and seemed like the owner. This place is a place to visit if you like to feel like you been going to a place for years.
Wanted to try out this place after seeing the reviews and it wasn't the business. It was like going to your grandma's house that doesn't even like you to eat bad food. ( the elderly lady owner gave those vibes didn't greet and was bothered when asked for a bag) . The food wasn't authentic Mexican tasted salty, greasy and the beans totally canned . The only good part was the waitresses had good customer service.
