Banana Cafe
1215 Duval St, Key West, FL
Crema's Take
“Tucked along Duval Street, Banana Cafe captures that unhurried, nostalgic charm of old Key West with a dining experience that refuses to rush you—the pacing is deliberately thoughtful, never hurried. Beyond their reliably excellent breakfast and lunch, they've quietly built a reputation for dinner dishes that surprise (think perfectly garlicky mussels and French onion soup that lives up to the hype), all served with the kind of attentive, genuine hospitality that somehow feels as nourishing as the food itself.”

Banana cafe is a charming eatery reminiscent of an older time. We were able to get seated right away despite the busy restaurant. The timing was perfect, not too fast and not too slow. We requested to have everything at once in order to split all of the food. In true French fashion, the escargot was delightful and came with a hearty amount of bread. My mushroom ravioli was filling and hearty. I will be back next time I am in key west!
Wow! So good! Went for dinner. French Onion soup was to die for. The Snapper Beurre Blanc was also amazing. And, I was also jealous of my neighbors crepe! So nice to find great-tasting, quality food in a touristic place. Can’t wait to come back.
Don’t sleep on their dinner! It was so yum! The mussels were perfectly garlicky. We also had the mushroom ravioli and the mahi dish, and both were amazing. Service somehow topped the food, thanks to Brooke, who was fantastic. 12/10 recommend.
I had fish and chips. The portion was fine. The fish tasted ok, but just ok. A bit bland. Wife had a tasty salad. Wife had a rum punch which was fruity but very little rum taste. We guess it was a skinny pour. We got in quickly. We were served by four different people. Service was acceptable, but no better. I ran out of coke and wasn’t offered a refill. The place is clean and is in a good location. Probably wouldn’t go back again. We have had much better meals for less while in Key West.
Let me tell you about a nifty little restaurant on Duval Street. The breakfast and the lunch on another day was outstanding! This is a must visit to eat well and for something a tad different. Service was perfect, and the atmosphere wonderfully relaxed. I loved that I could talk with my husband without having to raise my voice over music or a boisterous crowd. Food is generously portioned and delicious. I loved the art decor! I even love their unique animal cleaning crew, no need to feed. This is a must stop in and try while you are there. Eclectic, tidy, and relax the way a restaurant should be when living the easy life in the Florida Keys.
