Crema's Take

This charming French-leaning cafe in Key West has earned its stellar reputation through genuinely excellent pastries, generous portions, and a kitchen that executes both sweet and savory breakfast classics with real care—think almond croissants and bread pudding alongside perfectly crafted omelets and avocado toast. The dog-friendly back patio and relaxed, welcoming staff create the kind of unhurried atmosphere that keeps visitors coming back for second visits, making it feel less like a tourist spot and more like discovering a local gem with genuine personality.

First time in Key West, and I love checking out coffee shops. This is one of the few places we actually returned to for a second visit. Food: They have an amazing selection of pastries. On my first visit, I had the cinnamon walnut swirl, and on the second, an almond croissant. Both were fresh, crisp, and flavorful. For drinks, we tried a mocha and a London Fog. Both were very good, with nice foam and balanced flavors. I would have preferred the London Fog to be served a bit hotter, but it was still enjoyable. Service: You can order to go, or grab a seat inside and receive table service. We chose table service and were glad we did. It gave the experience a more relaxed, upscale feel. The service was very friendly and patient, and we never felt rushed to order. Atmosphere: This is a beautiful café, and you can tell it receives a lot of care and attention. Everything in the seating areas, behind the counter, and even in the kitchen looks thoughtfully placed. It feels intentional and welcoming. There are a few seats inside, along with additional café tables out front and a larger covered patio in the back. Adding to the relaxed atmosphere is Gaston, the resident dog, calmly resting on his own bed. Such a special find, and very different from many of the other coffee shops in Key West. It’s absolutely worth a visit.

We visited Frenchie's Cafe with a large group of 12, and overall it was a very enjoyable brunch experience. The food was fantastic, with a great variety on the menu, and everyone in our group left happy and satisfied with their choices. The brunch flavors really stood out, and the breads and Croissants were absolutely perfect -- fresh, well-made, and a highlight of the meal. We truly have no complaints about the food itself. Service is the only reason this isn’t a 5-star review. A couple of orders were missed, which caused some minor delays. That said, we do appreciate how accommodating and patient the staff were given the size of our group, which definitely counts for a lot. Overall, this is a highly recommended French café if you’re in Key West and looking for a great breakfast or brunch spot. We’d happily return.

Awesome French breakfast spot with delicious food and generous portions. The pastries are fresh and flavorful. Coffee is good too. There’s a nice, dog-friendly back patio. What really stood out is the hospitality — the hosts actually remember their customers. We were pleasantly surprised when a small detail we mentioned on our first visit showed up on our next visit, completely unprompted.

Frenchies Cafe is a really cool little spot in Key West serving coffee and sweet and savory breakfast and lunch fare. French emphasis on the savory food menu. The owners are French, and many of the staff sounded European. Nice flair! Service was great! We had lattes and an order of Quiche Lorraine. We prefer our lattes hotter, which is usually just a function of hotter milk. The quiche was easily one of the best we’ve ever had. Wish we had room to eat more, it all looked so good. There is an older resident French bulldog on premises, just hanging around looking for scrapes. Very good looking dog, and friendly! Very enjoyable breakfast at Frenchie’s, we go back for sure. Highly recommend this little “European”-style cafe!
