Crema's Take
“Nestled in Richmond, this beloved spot seamlessly blends café culture with bakery craftsmanship, where flaky pastries meet creative Asian-inspired buns like Japanese curry and red bean varieties alongside thoughtfully prepared milk teas and matcha drinks. The inviting atmosphere draws lingerers with books and friends, though regulars note the bakery case empties quickly—a testament to how sought-after their savory and sweet offerings truly are. It's the kind of place where you'll find yourself returning, each visit uncovering new flavor combinations while sinking into the warm, unhurried vibe.”

I tried 3 different baked items: 1. Red Bean Bun 2. Japanese Curry Bun 3. Savory Chicken Sandwich 4. Milk tea I enjoyed the savory chicken sandwich the most it was soooo good! The Japanese curry was good. The red bean bun is not what I thought it would be, but it is okay. They were very generous with the Boba and the milk tea was delicious (better priced than most places).
I did not expect such a beautiful place when I walked in. I plan on coming back with a book so I can sit and enjoy the atmosphere while eating. I ordered the coconut custard bun, curry chicken bun and strawberry cake. Curry chicken bun was not over powering and not spicy. The taste was perfect for a light lunch item. I loved the crunch of what ever it was topped with. Inside had potato, carrots and chicken. Coconut bun was definitely how you want a bun texture to be, soft with a bit of a bouncy firmness. Custard was not too sweet, a bit thick. I prefer my custard to be on the thinner/lighter side but still good. Strawberry cake was light and fluffy. Whipped icing. Not over powering sweetness which is why I like these types of bakeries. They do offer to toast your items for you. The warmer does not get the center of the baked item so you may want them to toast longer or take it home and warm it up. I can’t wait to come again and try the other items and drinks.
It was my second time going to BrecoTea and it’s always low stock on the baked goods. I’ve been to other local bakery shops like Tous les Jours where they have plenty of baked goods to choose from. Every time I’m here, it’s low in stock and makes me feel like it’s not fresh. I could be wrong on the freshness…The selection is okay. The bubble tea I got was delicious though! The service could be friendlier and welcoming.
So I thought I'd have a couple of pastries delivered (by Uber) for my after lunch dessert, and maybe a couple to take home for breakfast... Just a little treat, I thought. And here they came. Nicely packed in the 9 x13 ish box and a safety sealed bag. I was greatly (and pleasantly) surprised when I opened the box. Pastries were huge! I had enough for after lunch, full dinner, and full breakfast for 2 🙀 (note: I had already cut off half of one long pastry before taking a picture). And yes, they're super fresh and delicious. My current choices were mango Danish, mango stick, strawberry creamstick, and pecan pistachio cream stick (which looked more like Jm's sandwich by size :-D , not a sick. I'm definitely going to order again and explore other creations. Highly recommend!!! P.S. Updated review: ordered pastries again - bigger variety for visiting with friends. Still everything awesomely delicious! This time my favorite was mini puffs. More photos attached.
Yum! This was our first time going and it did not disappoint. So many great options, both sweet and savory, and pretty decent pricing. All of the croissant dough bases were so flaky and then you add the different fillings/toppings and we were going gaga. Love the ambiance as well. Can't wait to go back!
